Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

The response falls significantly short of the 150-word minimum, containing only 77 words, which severely restricts the development of the topic. While the student attempts to describe the charts, the information presented is minimal and contains noticeable inaccuracies regarding the data. For instance, the reference to 'numerious amount of young people's parents' misinterprets the data categories, and key figures from the charts are omitted or confused. The overview is extremely brief and lacks adequate support from the visual data. To improve, the candidate must meet the word count requirement and present a fully developed report covering all main features and comparisons.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The response shows an attempt at basic organisation with some transitional phrasing such as 'overall', but the overall structure is highly fragmented. The text breaks down into isolated sentences and disjointed fragments, such as 'we write for paren', which completely disrupts the logical flow and progression of the report. Paragraphing is poorly handled, with a trailing, unfinished sentence fragment at the end. Cohesive devices are either missing or misused. To achieve a higher band, the writer needs to group related information logically, use appropriate cohesive ties to connect sentences and paragraphs smoothly, and ensure a clear, coherent progression of ideas from introduction to conclusion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with noticeable word choice and word formation errors that occasionally impede understanding. Phrases such as 'numerious amount' (numerous amount), 'highly spoken in habitually', and 'high demand in their own child' demonstrate limited control over lexical items and collocations. Spelling and word forms need significant attention. To move up to a higher band, the candidate should expand their lexical repertoire to include less common academic vocabulary, use words with greater precision, and ensure accurate word forms and collocations when discussing data and trends.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with frequent errors. There are notable issues with verb tenses, prepositions, and sentence boundaries, such as run-on sentences and capitalization errors ('all the measures were in thousands. There were five different language.'). Additionally, fragments like 'we write for paren' reveal a lack of grammatical control. To improve, the student needs to incorporate a better mix of simple and complex sentence forms while improving basic grammatical accuracy, including subject-verb agreement, articles, and punctuation.
