Student answer (Band 6.5)

Stress is a major problem around the world and it is hazard for the people mental health which can eventually create lots of problem. Some believe that modern generation people suffer more stress than people in past and other believe that previous generation were under more pressure. In my opinion, both the generation have their own problems and stress according to the life they are living it cannot be compare whose life have more stress or not.

The essay will anticipate the stress problem of today's generation. Firstly, due to increasing in the population competition is also increasing among the students in terms of education field and employer or businessman in terms of co-operative world. For example competitive exams like JEE or NEET which creates pressure among the students because of increasing number of participants and limited number of seats which increases stress levels of students and in many cases when they are not able to endure it they commit suicide and due to innovation of AI many people are loosing their job and going bankrupt in business.

Furthermore, people in the past did not have enough amount of technology and financial stability which lead them to live poor lifestyle and stress of feeding and providing facility to their family. For instance our grandfather struggles a lot to provide better education to their children and sacrificing a lot for them.

As per my opinion, stress level has been increasing day by day due to many factors that includes either economic crisis or increasing competition among the children which has a major effect on increasing stress levels.

All in all, everyone had deal or have to deal with the stress in their life due to many factors and it does not matter who have a major problem because everyone has their own problem to deal with it.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The essay addresses both views and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. The discussion of modern stress is supported by specific examples like competitive exams, but the analysis of past generations is less developed and relies on generalisations. The conclusion is a bit repetitive and does not fully synthesise the arguments presented. To reach a higher band, ensure that each body paragraph provides a deeper exploration of the 'why' and 'how' behind the arguments rather than just listing examples.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. There is a logical progression from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as the transition 'The essay will anticipate the stress problem...' which is not a standard way to introduce a paragraph. Additionally, some sentences are loosely connected, and the referencing (e.g., 'it cannot be compare') is occasionally unclear, which affects the flow of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at topic-specific vocabulary like 'co-operative world' and 'financial stability'. However, there are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'hazard for the people mental health' (should be 'hazard to people's mental health') and 'loosing their job' (should be 'losing'). The range is sufficient for communication, but lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('both the generation have'), article usage, and pluralisation ('people in past'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, and some sentences are run-on or lack necessary prepositions. These errors occur throughout the text, though they do not usually prevent the reader from understanding the intended message. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for small errors would significantly improve this score.
