Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The essay addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the impact of technology and the historical context of survival. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument regarding 'democracy and dictatorship' causing stress is not clearly linked to the concept of stress itself. The position is consistent, but the supporting evidence could be more nuanced to reach a higher band. The conclusion effectively summarizes the main points, though it repeats some phrasing from the body paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand', 'In addition', and 'To summing up', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'They notion that' and 'Hence, there is not use word like'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs needs more variety to avoid repetitive structures.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'hactic schedules' (likely meaning hectic), 'financial commitments', and 'economic crises'. However, there are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'an significant issue', 'experienced more from pressure', and 'difficulties circumstances'. These errors do not impede communication, but they limit the precision of the argument. A wider range of vocabulary and more accurate collocations would improve the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('other believe', 'individuals' have'), incorrect verb forms ('have to being active'), and missing articles or prepositions. Punctuation is generally functional, but there are errors in sentence construction that occasionally make the reading flow less natural. To improve, the student should focus on basic grammatical accuracy and proofreading for common errors like pluralization and verb tense consistency.
