Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 154 words. This significant under-length results in an underdeveloped response. While you attempt to address both views, the arguments are truncated and lack the necessary depth, examples, and evidence required for a Task 2 essay. Furthermore, you do not clearly state your own opinion as requested by the prompt. To improve, you must expand your arguments with specific examples and ensure you provide a clear, consistent position throughout the essay. The current response is too brief to fully address the complexity of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive start. However, the progression of ideas is interrupted by the incomplete nature of the text. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'For instance' and 'On the other hand', but the overall flow is hindered by the abrupt ending. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the logical development of the argument is severely limited by the lack of word count. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that ideas are linked smoothly to support your central argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision expected at higher bands. You use some relevant terms like 'genetically modified' and 'sedentary life', but there are issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'the lifestyle lived by the' which is incomplete. The range is limited by the brevity of the text. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to the topic of stress and societal change, and ensure that your word choices are precise and grammatically correct in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains several grammatical errors that affect clarity. For example, 'stress occur more' should be 'stress occurs more', and 'is definitely experience' should be 'is definitely experiencing'. There are also issues with sentence structure, such as the sentence ending abruptly with 'less discoveris'. While you attempt some complex structures, the frequency of errors is high relative to the short length of the text. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct verb tenses, and ensuring that all sentences are complete and punctuated correctly.
