IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In some societies, stress is now regarded as a major problem, and it is thought that people suffer from more stress than they did in the past. However, others feel that the amount of stress people have today is exaggerated. They say that previous generations were under more pressure, but the idea of suffering from stress did not exist.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
You should use your own ideas, knowledge and experience and support your arguments with examples and relevant evidence.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response attempts to address the prompt by discussing stress, but it fails to clearly identify or develop the two opposing views mentioned in the task. The ideas are repetitive and lack logical development, focusing more on personal anecdotes about grief rather than a balanced discussion of societal stress. The position is unclear, and the arguments are not supported by relevant evidence or examples that relate to the prompt's core theme of historical versus modern perspectives on stress. Consequently, the response does not fully address the requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The essay lacks a clear structure. There is no logical progression of ideas, and the paragraphing is absent, resulting in a single, dense block of text. Cohesive devices are largely missing or used incorrectly, such as the repetitive use of 'some peoples says' and 'many peoples have'. The lack of transition words makes it difficult for the reader to follow the writer's train of thought. The ideas are presented in a fragmented manner, which significantly hinders the overall flow and coherence of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive. The writer relies on basic words and struggles with word choice and collocation, such as 'dacaise' (disease), 'cerrer' (career), and 'truma' (trauma). There are frequent spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'liveing', 'bust', and 'strtess', which occasionally impede communication. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas, and the writer does not demonstrate an awareness of style or appropriate academic register.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that distort meaning. There is a lack of control over basic sentence structures, including subject-verb agreement ('some peoples says'), tense usage ('he dead'), and article usage. Punctuation is inconsistent, and there is a complete absence of complex sentence structures. The errors are pervasive and often make the text difficult to understand, indicating a very limited command of English grammar.
