Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the essay attempts to address both views, the arguments are underdeveloped and repetitive. The position is unclear, and the lack of sufficient supporting evidence or logical progression makes it difficult to follow the writer's perspective. The conclusion is incomplete, consisting of only one word. To improve, the student must expand on their arguments with specific examples and ensure all parts of the prompt are addressed with sufficient depth.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay lacks a clear logical structure. Paragraphing is present but does not effectively group related ideas. There is a severe lack of cohesive devices; sentences are often linked by simple repetition of words like 'stress' or 'past' rather than logical connectors. The progression of ideas is disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow the argument. The conclusion is essentially missing, which further disrupts the coherence of the response. Improving the use of transition signals and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would greatly enhance the flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive. The student relies on basic terms such as 'stress', 'problem', 'past', and 'work', often repeating them multiple times within the same sentence or paragraph. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'today time zone' and 'any other divis' (devices). The range is insufficient to express complex ideas, and the lack of variety makes the writing monotonous. To reach a higher band, the student needs to expand their vocabulary to include more academic and topic-specific terminology.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The grammar is characterized by frequent, systematic errors that often impede communication. There are significant issues with sentence structure, including missing articles, incorrect verb tenses, and fragmented sentences (e.g., 'In some condition not a major problem'). Subject-verb agreement is frequently incorrect, and the use of complex structures is largely absent or attempted unsuccessfully. Punctuation is also inconsistent. The writing relies on simple, often ungrammatical, sentence patterns. A focus on basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles is essential for improvement.
