Student answer (Band 5.5)

Mental health is more crucial than physical health . In few societies, stress is now regarded as a major issue, and it is thought that masses suffer from stress than they did in the past. However, other individuals feel that the amount of stress people have today is exaggerated. They say previous generations were under more pressure, but the solution of suffering from stress did not available. I discuss both views and give my opinion in upcoming paragraph.

To commence with, in past a lot of people was suffering from mental health issues because of poverty and unemployment, in 10 - 15 years ago the jobs are very less and the people grow crops for their survival and expensis, the growth of crops are fully depends on the nature or environment. In few cases heavy rainfall and other weather disturbance ruined the crops.

secondly, low technology and facility, in ancient time, there was very few facilities at everywhere like limited health cares, school, industries so masses face lot of struggle to get there type of facilities. This was the major reasons of ancient people suffering from stress.

On the other hand, in modern days lot of masses suffering from stress because of their carrier, nowadays these are lot of competition at everywhere and in every field, although, masses got lot of hyper for their result. Additionally, the comman problem for the mental health in nowdays is relationships, individuals lose their close ones because of some missunderstanding, more over, little arguments which leaves the negative impacts on their mental health.

In my opinion, modern days generations feels a lot of stress as compare to old, few are stuck in the matrix of family mentality, some think about their future and think very insanely for it which leaves the harsh impact in their mind.

To the conclusion, every generation have different type of stress, taking stress can reduce the IQ and thinking ability, which can give negative impact on their mind and future life. It is very crucial for everyone to reduce stress and live life with joyfully.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both views and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the task. However, the development of ideas is limited. The arguments regarding past generations focus heavily on agricultural struggles, while the modern perspective is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. The introduction is slightly confusing, as it begins with a statement about mental health that is not directly related to the prompt. To improve, ensure that each paragraph focuses on a clear, distinct argument that is fully explained with specific examples rather than general statements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'To commence with' and 'To the conclusion'. Some transitions are awkward, such as 'in 10 - 15 years ago', which disrupts the flow. The logical progression between ideas is sometimes weak, particularly in the transition between the discussion of past and modern stress. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly enhance the coherence of the essay.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward word choices, such as 'masses' used repeatedly, 'got lot of hyper', and 'solution of suffering'. The phrasing 'stuck in the matrix of family mentality' is informal and unclear. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more academic collocations and avoiding repetitive or overly simplistic vocabulary. Expanding your range of synonyms and learning how to use them in the correct context will help improve your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'a lot of people was suffering', 'every generation have'), incorrect tense usage (e.g., 'the jobs are very less'), and missing articles. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some run-on sentences and misused commas. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors limits the score. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would be a beneficial next step.
