IELTS Writing Task 2 question

In some societies, stress is now regarded as a major problem, and it is thought that people suffer from more stress than they did in the past. However, others feel that the amount of stress people have today is exaggerated. They say that previous generations were under more pressure, but the idea of suffering from stress did not exist.

Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

You should use your own ideas, knowledge and experience and support your arguments with examples and relevant evidence.

Student answer (Band 4.0)

Stress is the most common issue people complain about these days. In my opinion, the amount of people feel stress in not exaggerated, rather the right thing we should focus on to help people overcome this issue. The present generation is so cncentrated onfactors and issues that are affecting their way of life. For example, a student is stresed about his exam and instead of sitting their there he might take step and do the exercise in order to clear things to study better.

However, the idea of suffering from stress did not exist in previous generation .Even though if they were suffering from stress due to lack self awareness they never think about why we are feeling this way. The only thing they were cleared about was to eat and drink to survive.
