Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—that stress is a major modern problem and that previous generations suffered more under greater pressure—while also providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are generally relevant, though some arguments are slightly under-developed or vague. For example, the assertion that physical toughness added benefits to mental health lacks adequate support or explanation. The position is maintained throughout the essay, moving from historical context to modern factors and concluding with lifestyle choices. However, the depth of exploration prevents it from reaching a higher band, placing it comfortably at Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement and follows a logical paragraph structure, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs addressing each viewpoint, and a conclusion. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. For instance, transitional phrases like 'One wing of opinion generally believe' and 'To synthesize the above points' feel somewhat unnatural. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and punctuation errors around conjunctions disrupt the smooth flow of ideas. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct arguments, but the internal links between sentences require more precision.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used provides an adequate range for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'temporal terms', 'supression', and 'contemporary world'. However, there are numerous spelling and word-choice errors, including 'pyschological' instead of psychological, 'as compare to' instead of compared to, 'persepctives', 'concluing', 'atempt', 'reslove', 'becuase', 'todo', 'benifits', 'thoughness', 'helath', 'possiblities', 'induacing', and 'mention'. These errors indicate a lack of precision, though they rarely impede overall communication, reflecting a Band 5.5 performance.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over sentence structure. However, the text contains frequent grammatical errors, particularly missing articles, incorrect prepositions, and subject-verb agreement issues. Examples include 'stress is constant pyschological component', 'people in colonies like India throughout the world were in restless state becuase absence of fundamental rights', and 'today world'. Punctuation is also problematic, with misplaced commas and run-on constructions. These errors frequently cause difficulty for the reader and prevent the grammar score from rising higher.
