Student answer (Band 5.5)

In some societies it is a debate that stress is considered as a major problem, and it is thought that individuals suffer from more stress than the previous generation. On the other hand, others feel that the amount of stress people have nowadays is our hyped. They say that previous generation were more in under pressure, however the idea of suffering from depression did not exist.

On the one hand, young generation feel that they are more in under pressure. One of the main reasons is that due to social media advancement youngsters feel more stress from their society in sence of education and followed the trends. Influencers post the reel about their perfect life style that cause anxiety and depression among the new generation because they may not be able to follow all theses things. Additionally, expectations from their elders to get good marks in their exams can cause anger issues in their behaviour lead to stress. For example, nowadays on instagram people post different thing that create hype about the person can give then satisfaction, while they cause negative impact on someone else.

On the other hand, previous generation says that they were more under pressure. Economic instability can cause anxiety in older people because at those time they have not enough job opportunities to get good income for the survival to their family. The other reason is lack of technological advancement to get work from big cities that cause depression in older people. For instance, in previous time large number of people live together in the same house can cause negative effect on the personality of someone, because thay may not be able to fullfill the expections of their family members.

In my opinion, new generation is more under stress because of society and family expectations. Thay can badly effect the new generation, some times thay leads to sosides. On the other hand, it is also true that the previous generation are also survive in stress, but their stress is less than the new generation.

To conclude this, stress is now regraded as a major problem because of social media and technological advancement. Also because of their society expections can lead then to more in depression. while previous people under stress because of different reason like meet their family needs.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The student addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views—that stress is a major modern problem versus the idea that stress levels are exaggerated compared to the past—and provides a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant and supported with examples such as social media and economic instability. However, some arguments remain somewhat repetitive and under-developed, relying on generalised statements like 'youngsters feel more stress from their society in sence of education'. The position is evident throughout the response, fitting the Band 6 descriptor well.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is organized into clear paragraphs with an introduction, two body paragraphs discussing each view, a personal opinion paragraph, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand' are used to signal transitions between paragraphs, though referencing is sometimes unclear, as seen in pronoun shifts like 'Thay can badly effect...'. Paragraphing is sufficient, but logical progression within paragraphs is occasionally disrupted by mechanical phrasing and repetitive structures. This aligns with Band 6 standards.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range to communicate ideas related to stress, social media, and economic conditions, using terms like 'economic instability', 'technological advancement', and 'anxiety'. However, there are noticeable word choice and spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'our hyped' instead of 'overhyped', 'sence' instead of 'sense', 'theses' instead of 'these', and 'sosides' instead of 'suicides'. These errors indicate an attempt to use less common vocabulary with mixed success, placing the vocabulary in the Band 5 to 6 range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating relative clauses and conditional structures. However, grammatical accuracy is weak, with frequent errors in subject-verb agreement, preposition use, and tense consistency. Examples include 'previous generation were more in under pressure', 'people post different thing that create hype', and 'the previous generation are also survive in stress'. These errors cause occasional difficulty for the reader and prevent the grammar score from rising above Band 5.
