Student answer (Band 5.0)

In some societies, stress is noticed as a major problem and many belived that people suffer from more stress in present time than they did in the past. However other people belives that the amount of stress people have today is exaggerated. They say that previous generations were under more pressure but the idea of stress in past didnot exist.I belived that the both generation have stress suffering but today generation have recognize strees as the major problem.

In past people also have stress but their ability to diagnose with is not present. For example in past when someone is unemployed and in a stress situation he would not able to recognized it as a sickness moreover, people around him were not aware of his situation they used to mock them or make a fun out of his position if he expresses his feeling.

Nowadays, when some one is going through similar situation every person around him is giving support and teach him how to cope with this situation.

In my opinion stress now adays is diagnose as a major problem because social media influences many people and teach them how to handle difficult situation. In past people dont have knowledge to go through difficult situation. For example in present time if some kid failed her exam he has less peer pressure because everyone know what is stress and what type of problem it can cause but same in the past people didnot have knowledge of stress if someone is going through the strees condition people would called him mad and didnot took him to the hospital.

In conclusion stress is present in both generations but having the idea of stress didnot occur in past times.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses both views outlined in the prompt regarding modern stress versus past pressures and provides a clear personal opinion in the introduction and body paragraphs. The ideas are relevant, discussing how lack of awareness and diagnosis in the past contrasts with modern support systems and social media influences. However, the development of ideas remains somewhat limited and repetitive, with over-generalized examples such as someone being unemployed or failing an exam. The reasoning lacks depth and extension, preventing the response from reaching higher bands. This places the performance firmly in the Band 5 to 6 range, where the task is addressed with relevant ideas, but remains under-developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay displays some overall organization with distinct paragraph breaks separating the introduction, body points, and conclusion. However, there is a clear lack of logical progression and cohesive devices are inadequate, repetitive, or inaccurate. For instance, transitions between sentences feel abrupt, and referencing is sometimes faulty (e.g., shifting pronouns abruptly or lacking clear logical connectors between ideas). Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion is weak. Sentences often run together or lack appropriate conjunctive links, which limits the overall flow. These characteristics align closely with Band 5 descriptors, as the text has organizational structure but suffers from mechanical and missing cohesive elements.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student uses a limited but minimally adequate vocabulary for the task, with repeated words such as "stress", "past", "generation", and "difficult situation". There are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, such as "belived" instead of believed, "present time" rather than the present day, "didnot" instead of did not, and "diagnose" instead of diagnosed. Less common lexical items are attempted but often misused or inaccurately formed (e.g., "stress suffering" or "stress condition"). These errors cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect typical limitations associated with Band 5, where vocabulary is basic and repetitive, and spelling errors occur frequently.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing exhibits a very limited range of structures, with frequent errors in tense consistency, subject-verb agreement, and punctuation. For example, the student writes "many belived that people suffer" and "other people belives". Complex structures are rare and when attempted, they are often faulty, such as "in present time if some kid failed her exam he has less peer pressure because everyone know..." which contains multiple grammatical inaccuracies. Punctuation is largely neglected, with missing commas and fused sentences. Because errors are frequent, cause considerable distraction, and severely restrict the structural range, the grammar score is situated at Band 5.
