You should use your own ideas, knowledge and experience and support your arguments with examples and relevant evidence.

Student answer (Band 5.0)

In some communities, it is often argued that stress is one of the most suffering problem than they used to be in past whereas other believes it is being exaggerated in modern time as it was more because of pressure rather than stress. This essay will elaborate both the ideas with strong reasons and explanations.

On the one hand, Many civilians had to do work overtime to have their living style. Back then people doesnot have to work like now in the present. There was no invention of any technology in the past and they have not such difficult work to be done which is less stressful. Now, as the technology developed, the work stress has increased rapidly. For example: People had to work with the new inventions which causes major problems like knowledge and confident.

On the other hand, With the help of technology, the work has been easy and less stressful than before. The public love to exaggerated every little things as a stress. Every problems start to became stress which is wrong. People from back has to work continuously to earn something. That was stress not the pressure. For instance, In the past, the people have experienced both pressure and stress at the same time which was an serious issue as they have to take care of the whole family by alone.

In my opinion, the people from past have experienced more stress than today's public. I believed people are exaggerating little problems into a major stress. As they live in a digital time , small problmes became a huge stress .

In conclusion, both the people from past and present has suffered stress. But the perspective of looking stress is different from each other.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views—that stress is a major modern problem versus the idea that it is exaggerated compared to past pressures—and provides a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited and sometimes confused. For instance, the second paragraph attempts to explain how technology increases stress, but the supporting example ("People had to work with the new inventions which causes major problems like knowledge and confident") is unclear and grammatically strained. The position is discernible, but the arguments often lack clear extension and logical support, placing the response firmly at Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay is divided into five paragraphs, including a clear introduction and conclusion, which provides a basic structural framework. However, the overall progression of ideas is hindered by repetitive phrasing and poor logical flow. While cohesive devices such as "On the one hand" and "On the other hand" are used to signal shifts between paragraphs, referencing within sentences is frequently unclear (e.g., "Every problems start to became stress which is wrong"). Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal cohesion of the body paragraphs is faulty and mechanical, leading to an overall coherence score of 5.0.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally basic and repetitive, with noticeable errors that occasionally impede understanding. Phrases like "one of the most suffering problem" and "The public love to exaggerated every little things as a stress" demonstrate a limited range and incorrect word forms. While the student attempts some less common vocabulary items such as "exaggerated" and "perspective", inaccurate collocations and persistent word-choice errors (e.g., using "civilians" instead of workers or citizens, and "problmes") restrict the score to a Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The essay displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, and attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty. There are persistent errors in basic grammar, subject-verb agreement, and tense consistency throughout the text. Examples include "Back then people doesnot have to work like now in the present", "the people have experienced both pressure and stress", and "both the people from past and present has suffered stress." These frequent errors cause difficulty for the reader and mean the grammar remains below the Band 5 threshold in terms of accuracy, though the overall meaning can still be parsed.
