Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response attempts to address both views regarding modern stress compared to the past, but the development of ideas remains very basic. In the second paragraph, the student mentions job pressure and lifestyle factors, while the third paragraph contrasts this with past generations. However, the arguments lack depth, relevant examples, and clear support. Furthermore, your own opinion is not clearly stated throughout the essay, which is a requirement of the prompt. While all parts of the prompt are touched upon superficially, the ideas are under-developed, aligning the response with Band 5.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the overall logical progression is weak. Transitions between ideas feel abrupt, such as shifting suddenly from modern pressures to past lifestyles with phrases like 'But in another side'. Cohesive devices are used repetitively and often inaccurately, leading to awkward transitions. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal flow of sentences within paragraphs is disjointed, and referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the argument smoothly. This performance fits Band 5 descriptors.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The vocabulary used is basic, repetitive, and often inaccurate, with numerous word-choice and collocation errors throughout the text (e.g., 'socities', 'indivduals are noticeable compare than', 'medical facilities are more less'). The student attempts to use some less common words like 'exaggerated' and 'generations', but frequent lexical errors and spelling mistakes restrict clarity and strain the reader. The range of vocabulary is limited and minimally adequate for conveying simple ideas, placing it firmly at Band 4.5, rounded to 4.0 or 4.5 based on strict error frequency.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0
Grammatical control is weak throughout the response, featuring a very limited range of sentence structures. Most complex sentence attempts are faulty or grammatically incorrect, such as 'In this topic shows in some socities, stress is now biggest problem' and 'Their mental health was weak day by day.' Frequent errors in tense consistency, subject-verb agreement, prepositions, and article usage cause considerable difficulty for the reader and obscure meaning in several places. This matches the Band 4 descriptor profile.
