In some societies, stress is now regarded as a major problem, and it is thought that people suffer from more stress than they did in the past. However, others feel that the amount of stress people have today is exaggerated. They say that previous generations were under more pressure, but the idea of suffering from stress did not exist.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
You should use your own ideas, knowledge and experience and support your arguments with examples and relevant evidence.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count of 250 words, stopping at only 169 words, which significantly restricts the development of ideas. While the student attempts to touch upon the prompt by discussing stress and offering solutions like physical games, the response only partially addresses the task. The discussion of both views is extremely limited and lacks a clear position throughout. Ideas are underdeveloped, repetitive, and lack the necessary supporting examples and relevant evidence required by the task prompt. To improve, the writer must fully address all parts of the prompt, ensure a clear overarching position, and expand their arguments adequately past the minimum length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
The response shows some basic organisation, but there is no clear overall progression of ideas. Paragraphing is highly problematic, with improper spacing and run-on thoughts that hinder readability. Cohesive devices are either missing, inadequate, or repetitive, making the flow disjointed. For instance, transitions between sentences and ideas rely on simple conjunctions like 'and' or abrupt shifts without logical connectors. Referencing is often unclear, such as pronoun use like 'they' and 'these' where the antecedent is ambiguous. To move up, the writer needs to logically sequence ideas, use paragraphing sufficiently and appropriately, and apply cohesive devices smoothly to create a clear progression throughout the essay.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, employing a limited range appropriate for simple communication. There are noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and spelling throughout the text, such as 'sociaties', 'nutural', 'disattachment', 'entertanment', and 'dissuit'. These inaccuracies sometimes cause difficulty for the reader and strain comprehension. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary items like 'disattachment' and 'riskey', but these attempts are flawed in collocation and form. To achieve a higher band, the writer must expand their lexical repertoire, use words with greater precision and correct spelling, and demonstrate better control over word forms and collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The grammatical range is extremely limited, relying heavily on simple sentence structures and faulty attempts at complex sentences. Frequent errors occur in verb forms, tenses, subject-verb agreement, articles, and plurals, such as 'more people are suffer', 'their number are increasing', 'stress can be decrease', and 'they are think'. Punctuation is also poorly handled, with long unpunctuated clauses and run-on sentences that make reading difficult. These frequent errors disrupt the flow and occasionally distort meaning. To progress, the writer needs to develop a wider variety of grammatical structures, improve control over basic sentence construction, and reduce the frequency of grammatical errors.
