Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
The response identifies stress among teenagers and adults as a current concern and gives examples of possible causes, such as relationship problems and worries about the future. However, it does not discuss both views in the prompt: there is no explanation of why earlier generations may have faced greater pressure, nor a comparison of whether modern stress is exaggerated. Your own position is also not clearly stated in relation to these competing views; the focus shifts instead to solutions such as yoga centres and meditation. The response is substantially below the required 250 words, which leaves the task only minimally addressed. To improve, state your view directly, explain each side, and support the comparison with developed examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic sequence from identifying stress as a problem, to listing causes, and then suggesting ways to reduce it. This gives the reader some sense of direction, and phrases such as “as a solution” signal a shift in focus. However, the response is presented as one continuous paragraph, and the ideas do not form a clear progression through the two views required by the question. Several points are simply listed, including the causes, without explanation or links between them. The repeated use of “stress” also makes the flow feel repetitive. Use separate paragraphs for the two perspectives and your opinion, and connect each claim to an explanation or example.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses a small set of relevant topic words, including “stress level,” “relationship problems,” “future worries,” “meditation,” and “peace of mind.” These make the general subject understandable. However, the vocabulary is limited and repetitive, particularly through repeated use of “stress,” and several spelling or word-choice errors make the writing less clear, such as “stess,” “teenages,” and “physical sate.” Some phrases are also unnatural, including “smartphone uses” and “increasing of stress level.” Build a wider range of accurate expressions, such as “psychological pressure,” “academic demands,” or “work-related strain,” and check spelling and collocations carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts some longer sentence forms, for example the opening claim followed by “as it is causing lack of focus,” and the sentence beginning “as a solution.” However, most structures are simple or joined in ways that are difficult to control, and frequent errors affect accuracy. Examples include “stress doesn't not only effects” and “activities that helps,” where the verb forms do not agree with their subjects, as well as missing articles in “for longer period of time” and “causing lack of focus.” Sentence boundaries and capitalisation are also inconsistent. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, and punctuation first, then use a wider mix of simple and complex sentences.
