Student answer (Band 4.5)

In some societies, stress is now regarded as a major problem, and it is thought that people suffer from more stress than they did in the past. However, others feel that the amount of stress people have today is exaggerated. they say that previous generation were under pressure, but the idea of suffering from stress did not exist.

In my opinion, Stress is now regarded as a major problem, Because today's generation has in more under pressure due to extra using mobiles and making online friends, It is the biggest reason of today's people having a depression a lot. For example boy make a girl friend from using online platform like, Instagram and others, After they becoming a friend some girl get wrong use of boy and take a lot of benefit from boy and some period girl leave the boy and boy goes in the depression or get stress and some times boy do this with girls. However I believe that Today's society are more in under pressure.

But, Some people say that the previous generations were under more pressure. From my perspective that these some people think like that because in the past their is a lot of hard working required for earn some money and get some food due to poverty. Poverty is the major reason for previous generations to go in stress and depression.

In conclusion, I strongly believe that stress is now regarded as a major problem than the past the biggest reason today's generation called Gen-Z is in huge number of people who are in stress or in depression.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You give a clear opinion that people today face substantial stress, and you also mention the opposing view that earlier generations experienced pressure from poverty and the need to earn food. These points are relevant, but the discussion is only partial: the modern-stress argument relies mainly on one example about online relationships, while the earlier-generation view is stated briefly and not supported with a specific illustration. The conclusion repeats your position rather than drawing the two views together. The response is 194 words, below the required 250 words; the 71 words copied from the prompt do not count. Develop both sides with fuller explanations and relevant examples, then make your comparison explicit.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph about present-day stress, a paragraph presenting the past view, and a conclusion. This gives the reader a basic route through your ideas. However, progression within paragraphs is weak, particularly in the long modern-stress paragraph, where the online relationship example runs into several claims without clear steps. Linking words such as “However,” “But,” and “In conclusion” help signal shifts, but some connections are unclear or repetitive, and references such as “these some people” are difficult to follow. Use shorter, focused paragraphs and connect each claim to its explanation and example. A clearer comparison between the two views would also strengthen the overall progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “stress,” “pressure,” “poverty,” and “depression,” so the main subject is generally understandable. However, the range is basic and several phrases are repeated, especially “under pressure” and “stress.” Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “making online friends,” “take a lot of benefit from boy,” and “go in the depression.” These choices sometimes make the example harder to understand. Aim for more precise expressions and vary the vocabulary when discussing causes and effects. For instance, you could describe financial hardship as a source of strain and explain that social-media relationships may contribute to emotional distress, while keeping the wording clear and natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a sentence beginning “Because today’s generation…” and an example introduced by “For example.” However, control is limited: errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence boundaries occur frequently and sometimes make meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “previous generation were,” “today’s society are,” and the run-on sequence beginning “For example boy make a girl friend.” Capitalisation is also inconsistent, as in “Stress” and “Because” within sentences. Build accuracy first with complete, clearly punctuated sentences, then add subordinate clauses. Check subject–verb agreement and singular/plural forms, and avoid joining several separate ideas with commas.
