Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You express a general view that people today experience more stress, and you mention anxiety, social media, and the pressures faced by earlier generations. However, the discussion does not clearly explain both sides of the question: the claim that stress is exaggerated is only briefly suggested, and the comparison with past generations is difficult to follow. For example, “they don't have much more pressure than present living peoples” conflicts with your later claim that past people had less stress, leaving your position unclear. The point about social media distracting people is relevant, but it needs a clearer link to whether modern stress is greater or merely more recognised. Develop each view with a specific reason or example, then state your opinion consistently.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion, so the reader can recognise an overall essay structure. You also use basic signposts such as “To begin with,” “Moving towards lastly,” and “In conclusion.” However, progression within paragraphs is often unclear, and some connections between ideas are missing. The first body paragraph moves from anxiety to technical devices, online content, social media, and games without clearly showing how these points support the argument. References such as “the safer side” and “their” are also difficult to interpret. Organise each paragraph around one main claim, explain it in a logical sequence, and use linking phrases only where they accurately show the relationship between ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “stress,” “anxiety,” “mental issue,” “pressure,” and “overthinking,” which helps communicate the general subject. However, the range is basic and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “past times,” “present times,” and “mental issue.” Some choices are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “hassle” for stress and “contents” when referring to online material; these choices make parts of the argument harder to understand. There are also awkward expressions such as “present living peoples.” Build a more precise set of topic vocabulary and check collocations, for example, use “previous generations” for past people and “cope with stress” when describing how people manage pressure.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including a contrast between present-day and past experiences, but control is limited. Errors in verb forms and agreement occur frequently: “stress become,” “every generation has face,” and “there are many individual who face” need corrected verb forms and agreement. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also unreliable; the opening joins separate ideas with a full stop in the wrong place, while the sentence beginning “In present times” runs through several clauses without clear punctuation. Articles and plurals are inconsistent as well. These errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Practise writing shorter, complete sentences first, then combine them with accurate conjunctions and check tense, subject–verb agreement, and punctuation.
