IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In some societies, stress is now regarded as a major problem, and it is thought that people suffer from more stress than they did in the past. However, others feel that the amount of stress people have today is exaggerated. They say that previous generations were under more pressure, but the idea of suffering from stress did not exist.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
You should use your own ideas, knowledge and experience and support your arguments with examples and relevant evidence.
Student answer (Band 4.5)
first of all stress is major issue for everyone and it is not for just todays people.
some people argue that the amount of stress decrease for current world people.
and many people says that they suffer from more stress than they did in the past.
firstly we can see the point of that people who believes that amount of stress is decrease today they say it because in todays world there is lot of thing to divert the mind from stress for example using mobile phone and contain social media content.
The other people believes that they suffer from more stress than they did in the past because with the age and responsibilites they are many things that people will stress about that. In my point of view i will agree the view of people who says nowadays, they face more stress because in todays world there a lot inflation and everyone try their best to support their family. currently the world faces many crisis thats a reason of inflation. How this statement is ture in my opinion for example in today's time inflation eat job opprtunities. A person who have no job and experience. He face more stress about finding job to support his family.
As the result. i believe's that today the stess level is up than in the past. there are too many reasons of people facing more stress. Government need to see the major problems and try to solve them to protect the socities from this major stress issue.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You address both views and state your own position: you mention that some people believe stress has decreased because of distractions such as mobile phones, then argue that modern pressures, including inflation and unemployment, create more stress. However, the first view is only briefly explained, and the second is supported mainly by one example, so the discussion remains limited and under-developed. Some claims, such as inflation “eat[ing] job opportunities,” are unclear and need a more accurate explanation. The response also contains 234 words, below the required 250; the 20 words copied from the prompt are excluded from that count. Develop each view with a clearer reason and a relevant example, and explain your opinion more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: the opening introduces the issue, the body discusses the two views and your opinion, and the final sentence gives a conclusion. However, progression is difficult to follow because ideas are crowded together, and paragraphing does not clearly separate the viewpoints. Linking phrases such as “firstly,” “the other people,” and “as the result” are used, but some are inaccurate or do not show the relationship between ideas clearly. The sentence beginning “How this statement is ture” interrupts the argument rather than developing it. Use distinct paragraphs for each view and your opinion, and connect each example directly to the point it supports.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the main topic, with relevant terms such as “stress,” “responsibilities,” “inflation,” “crisis,” and “job opportunities.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning unclear. For example, “inflation eat job opportunities” does not express the intended relationship naturally, while “divert the mind from stress” and “the amount of stress decrease” are awkward. Spelling errors such as “responsibilites,” “opprtunities,” and “socities” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise set of phrases for discussing economic and social pressures, and check spelling and word forms before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt some longer sentences, including the explanation beginning “The other people believes… because…,” but control is inconsistent and many sentences contain errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, or sentence construction. Examples include “many people says,” “there is lot of inflation,” and “A person who have no job… He face more stress.” The opening and conclusion also lack consistent capitalisation and punctuation, and some sentence boundaries are unclear. These errors sometimes make the reader work to understand your meaning. Practise accurate simple sentences first, especially subject–verb agreement and articles, then combine ideas using controlled clauses such as “because” and “although.”
