In some societies, stress is now regarded as a major problem, and it is thought that people suffer from more stress than they did in the past. However, others feel that the amount of stress people have today is exaggerated. They say that previous generations were under more pressure, but the idea of suffering from stress did not exist.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
You should use your own ideas, knowledge and experience and support your arguments with examples and relevant evidence.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
In recent decade many individuals believe that now they are under more stress and it is becoming significant issue in the society. Where some other individuals hold different view that previous pioneers had suffer and strugle more than contemporary generation but they did not have any stressful life. However, I am going to outline both the views of the individuals prior to reasoned conclusion with my owm thought about this matter.
On the one hand, there are many factrs that greatly effect the first view in many ways. To begin with, nowadays in the society we can see that huge competition in every sector. Like professional life, education even in personal life also person have to face many difficulty and competition. To survive in this competitve world most people lead a stressful life. For example, in the work place now worker face many challenging situation and exterme level competition to hold their jod and for surviving ultimately they feels so much stress. Apart from that, in the society maintain status and standard life style people everday face different type of situation. Where to maintain standard of life individuals go through a stressful period. Like currently in education sectors many type of curriculumn which create difficulty in taking decisions for the parents that which one is better for their child.
On the other hand, many people think that in the past time life was difficult but they did not have any extra stress. Firstly, previous time to get any thing people had to face many dufficulties and went through huge suffering. Like before time learning process was very hard only affulent people can afford formal education poor one could not afford to study. Not only this even their everyday life was very difficult they face many struggling to find any jobs to lead normal life. Even those time to fillup basic needs they face huge struggle and suffering. But people did not have a stressful life if they earn for daily basis they can easily lead their life . They did not tense about status and standard of living. If their basic needd were fulfilled they lead peaceful life.
To conclude, here I thoroughly discuss both view of the society people. Although, previous generation had to struggle and suffer more than recent generation but I think they have less stress than current time people. Because they just need to lead their life they did not have to concern about other things.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and give a clear opinion: you explain that modern competition and expectations create stress, while earlier generations faced hardship but were less concerned with status. The conclusion restates your position, so the response covers the main parts of the task. The modern-life argument is supported with examples from work, education and parents’ choices, although some points—such as competition in personal life—are asserted rather than explained. The discussion of the past also identifies limited access to education and difficulty meeting basic needs, but the claim that people could live peacefully if their needs were met would benefit from more explanation and a specific example. Develop the comparison more fully to make the reasoning clearer and more persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “To conclude” help readers follow the discussion. Within paragraphs, however, progression is sometimes mechanical, with repeated openings such as “Like” and “Even,” and several ideas are joined without clear relationships. For example, the shift from workplace competition to maintaining social status could be linked more explicitly, while the education example needs a clearer connection to stress. Some references are also unclear, as in “Where to maintain standard of life.” Use a wider range of linking methods and make each paragraph’s sequence of examples and explanations more deliberate.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “competition,” “stressful life,” “formal education,” and “basic needs.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “standard of living” and “challenging situation.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation and spelling errors make the writing less natural and occasionally slow the reader: “previous pioneers,” “hold their job,” “fillup basic needs,” and “affulent” are examples. Repetition of “stress,” “difficult,” and “struggle” also limits precision. Build a bank of accurate collocations for pressure and hardship, and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise vocabulary would help distinguish emotional stress from practical difficulties.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “although,” “if,” and “because,” and the overall meaning is generally understandable. Some sentences show useful control, such as “If their basic needs were fulfilled they lead peaceful life,” though this still needs more accurate tense and article use. Across the response, errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, plurals and sentence boundaries recur: “many individuals believe that now they are,” “worker face,” and “they feels” illustrate these issues. Some long sentences also combine ideas without clear punctuation, particularly in the first body paragraph. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and verb, consistent tense, and correct articles, then edit punctuation in longer sentences.
