In some societies, stress is now regarded as a major problem, and it is thought that people suffer from more stress than they did in the past. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

You should use your own ideas, knowledge and experience and support your arguments with examples and relevant evidence.

Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is often argued that stress as a major problem in some societies and it is thought that people suffer from more stress that they did in the past.Other, however, believe that the amount of stress people have today is exaggerated. This essay will discuss both perspectives before presenting my own opinion.

On the one hand, there are several reasons why people support the view that people feel more anxiety and stress in the present time. One main reason is that people do a lot of work in offices and not do any physical activities. This means that people not broke there busy routeens. In addition, people not sit together with families or friends to feel comfortable because it helps to less stress of all busy day, which further strengthens this viewpoint.

On the other hand, many people argue that the previous generations were under more stress pressure. This view is bassed on the belief that the old generations was not fast technology and comunication systems like mobile phones, internet etc.As a result, families did't connected with one another and gets late news from other about there health soo people feel more stress due to this. From my perspective, previous people are less stress full instead of present generations as they lives with nature and cultural traditions.

In conclusion, although both views have their own merits, I believe that present generation needs to take some rest from daily rotiun and travel with friends and family to mountains and nature it's broke there life roteen from artificial thinngs and makes them happy. Overall, this approach is more beneficial in the long term.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You introduce both viewpoints and give a personal position, particularly in saying that earlier generations were less stressed because they lived closer to nature and cultural traditions. However, the discussion is only partially developed: the first view is supported mainly by office work and reduced time with family, while the explanation of past pressures is difficult to follow and does not clearly establish why earlier generations faced greater stress. Your conclusion recommends taking breaks and travelling, but this does not fully resolve the comparison in the question. The response also falls 8 words short of the 250-word minimum; the 20 words copied from the prompt are not counted. Develop each side with a clearer explanation and a specific example, then state your comparison directly in the conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs signposted with “On the one hand” and “On the other hand,” and a conclusion. This helps readers identify the two perspectives and your opinion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear. For example, the link between older generations’ lack of technology and families receiving health news late needs to be explained more carefully, and “This means” does not make the preceding point about office work and physical activity fully clear. Some linking phrases, such as “which further strengthens this viewpoint,” sound mechanical rather than showing a precise relationship. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each reason to its consequence explicitly; ensure pronouns such as “this” have an unmistakable reference.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “anxiety,” “stress,” “pressure,” “perspectives,” and “cultural traditions.” These choices show an attempt to discuss the issue rather than relying entirely on very general language. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts of the argument difficult to understand: “routeens,” “bassed,” “comunication,” and “stress full” are examples. Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “stress pressure” and “less stress of all busy day.” Aim to learn accurate topic-related collocations and check spelling carefully. More precise expressions for work demands, social support, and communication would help you explain the two views with greater clarity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including a relative clause in “because it helps to less stress of all busy day” and a contrastive opening in the conclusion. However, grammatical errors are frequent and sometimes obscure meaning. Examples include the incomplete opening construction “It is often argued that stress as a major problem,” the agreement error “the old generations was,” and the incorrect verb forms in “families did't connected” and “as they lives.” Sentence boundaries and punctuation also need attention, particularly the missing spaces after commas and full stops. Practise complete clause structures, subject–verb agreement, and past-tense forms. Editing each sentence for a clear subject and correctly formed verb would make your ideas easier to follow.
