Student answer (Band 5.5)

There are an ongoing debate among citizens about stress. Many individuals believe that stress is a common phenomenon nowadays, also in previous days, people were more relaxed than todays. In contrast, numerous residents are opposed to this viewpoint. From my perspective, I am in favour of former statement.

On the one hand, stress is a dangerous disease among youngsters. There are a lot of adults who are depressed about their career due to lack of job opportunities while, in the past people could easily set their workplace. For example, population are growing tremendously so that it would be quiet tough for authorities to provide proper job to all their citizens. As a result, many people especially youth are tend to depression and anxiety.

On the other hand, despite all the difficulities, many people have faith that the amount of stress individual are exaggerated today, also the think that old generations were more depressed than upcoming youth. In addition, it is due to the least experienced about every types of modern device. Recently, abundant of modern devices and technologies are invented which is really beneficial for workers well-being. For instance, though there were few population in the past, they would not find proper healthcare service or higher educational facilities. As a consequences, it effected general living cost and educational knowledge.

To sum up, sufferers who obtain over pressure are dreadful for their future. And it will be detrimental to broden their career path. Personally, I believe that people are feeling more stressed now than in the past.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You present a clear overall opinion in the introduction and conclusion: you favour the view that people experience more stress today. You also attempt to discuss both perspectives, using employment pressures for the present and healthcare and education as examples of past difficulties. However, the second view is not explained clearly: the claim that earlier generations were more stressed is mixed with a point about their limited experience of modern devices, so the reasoning is difficult to follow. The discussion also shifts from stress to general living standards without showing precisely how these conditions created pressure. To strengthen the response, explain each side’s central argument directly and develop the examples by linking them explicitly to stress.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting contrasting views, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “To sum up” help readers identify the stages of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, particularly where the second body paragraph moves from modern devices to healthcare, education, living costs, and educational knowledge. Some linking is mechanical, and references such as “the former statement” and “they” do not always make the intended meaning clear. Organise each body paragraph around one main reason, then use a clear explanation and example to support it; make pronoun references explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “job opportunities,” “authorities,” “anxiety,” “healthcare service,” and “educational facilities.” This gives you a basic range for discussing employment and social pressures. However, several inaccurate or unnatural choices make parts of the argument difficult to understand, such as “stress is a dangerous disease,” “the least experienced about every types,” and “sufferers who obtain over pressure.” Spelling and word-form errors, including “difficulities,” “broden,” and “quiet” where you mean “quite,” also reduce precision. Aim for natural collocations and check word forms carefully; for example, describe stress as a serious problem and say that people experience excessive pressure.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast clause beginning “despite all the difficulties” and a cause-and-effect sentence introduced by “As a result.” However, errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction occur frequently and sometimes make meaning hard to follow. For example, “There are an ongoing debate” needs subject–verb agreement, while “population are growing” and “people … are tend to depression” have faulty verb patterns. The opening sentence also joins ideas in a confusing way. Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses, checking agreement and verb patterns in each sentence.
