Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
You should use your own ideas, knowledge and experience and support your arguments with examples and relevant evidence.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
Now a days, stress is a major psyschological issue whereas some people considered that stress today is less than in past but the suffering from stress had increased in present. This essay will compare both the ideas. However, i firmly believe that stress and its affects had increased today than in past. This is mainly due to the reason of increased competition due to rise in technology and other essentials. In past, limited facilities lead to less stress.
The contrasting views explained the effect of stress in present and past. Now a days, the world has revolutionized leading to increased facilities, technologies, gadgets and tools. But the more facilities comes with more challenges. This modernization had come with increase in the stress. It is mainly because the competition to become best had increased.People had no time for their family, leisure activities and no hobbies left to relax their mind. This lack of socializing had risen the brain fatigue followed by surge in stress. People now spend most of their time working and worrying about their assumed ideal life and to attain better lifestyle. Its severe affects are decline in relationships bonding, love and care and rise in health issues at young age.
The people in past lived relatively easy and simple life than in present. Their simple life put them in less competition. Limited facilities spare them time to refresh their mind. Thez had time to spent with their families and to enjoy their hobbies too. This made their mind relaxed and refreshed. It helps them to reduce the mental and physical stress and had more innovative ideas to proceed with. Due to these reasons, people in past had better health and social values.
The comparison between past and present stress level depends on particular human activitz trends. The globalization of the modern era had led to increased mental stress as compared to past simple and peaceful life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both perspectives and state a clear view: modern life creates greater stress because of competition and technological change. The discussion is relevant, and the examples about reduced family time, work pressure, and health effects help explain your position. The paragraph on earlier generations also gives reasons for the opposing view, such as simpler lives and more time for hobbies. However, this side is less fully examined: it would be useful to acknowledge that people in the past faced serious pressures too, even if they did not describe them as stress. Some claims, such as people in the past having better health and social values, are broad and need support or qualification. Develop the comparison more precisely and explain the opposing view in greater depth.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a concluding comparison. This helps the reader follow the main argument. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes loose, and several links are repetitive or mechanical, including repeated uses of “This” and “Due to these reasons.” The opening says the essay will compare the ideas, but the conclusion mainly restates the position rather than drawing the discussion together. Some references are also unclear, as in “It helps them,” where the subject and time frame are not fully consistent with the preceding sentence. Use clearer topic sentences, vary linking expressions, and make each paragraph build toward a more explicit comparison.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “competition,” “modernization,” “brain fatigue,” “socializing,” and “health issues,” which allows you to discuss causes and effects of stress. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “decline in relationships” and “globalization of the modern era.” However, the range is limited by repeated general words such as “stress,” “life,” and “facilities,” and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward. Examples include “the more facilities comes with more challenges,” “relationships bonding,” and “assumed ideal life.” Spelling errors such as “psyschological,” “Thez,” and “activitz” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise collocations and check spelling and word forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a mixture of simple and complex sentences, including cause-and-effect structures such as “This lack of socializing had risen the brain fatigue followed by surge in stress.” The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but errors in tense, agreement, articles, and sentence construction occur across the response. For example, “the more facilities comes” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “Limited facilities spare them time” uses an inconsistent tense in a past-time discussion. The opening sentence also combines several ideas in a way that makes the relationship between them difficult to follow. Work on maintaining consistent past or present time frames, checking singular and plural agreement, and separating long or crowded sentences into clearer units.
