Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You introduce the topic and mention both perspectives: modern pressures such as work and finances, and past difficulties such as poverty and healthcare. You also begin to explain one modern cause, using long working hours and an example. However, the response addresses the task only minimally: the view that stress is exaggerated is not developed, and there is no clear personal opinion or conclusion. The past-generation point is only briefly stated, without supporting explanation or evidence. The response is 137 words, so it is 113 words below the 250-word minimum; the eight words copied from the prompt are excluded. To improve, discuss each view in a separate developed paragraph, state your position clearly, and support your claims with relevant examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening paragraph introduces the issue, and “To begin with” signals the start of a supporting point. The example about hourly pay also follows the idea of financial pressure. However, the response has no clear overall progression because it stops after developing only one reason and does not move on to the opposing view or a conclusion. Connections between ideas are sometimes unclear, particularly in the opening, where several claims are joined in one long sentence. Use distinct paragraphs for the two views and your opinion, and make the relationship between each claim and its example explicit. A wider, more accurate range of linking expressions would also help the reader follow the argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “financial pressure,” “support their families,” “pay their bills,” and “long hours,” which makes the main example understandable. However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors make reading less smooth, such as “oroblem,” “frim,” “stree,” “helthcare,” and “exhausted” misspelled as “exausted.” Some phrases are also imprecise: “the level of people experience” does not clearly express the amount of stress, and “people were more pressure” is not a natural collocation. Build a broader set of accurate terms for stress and social pressures, and check spelling and collocations carefully before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response includes simple statements and attempts a more complex explanation, for example, “because they must support their families and pay their bills … people work for long hours.” This shows some ability to connect reasons and results. However, the range of sentence structures is limited, and errors are frequent enough to cause difficulty. In the opening, two independent clauses are joined with a comma: “stress is now considered a major problem, it is believed…”. There are also agreement and number errors in “previous generation were” and “one of the major reason,” as well as an incomplete construction in “people were also in stress.” Practise accurate clause joining, subject–verb agreement, articles, and plural forms, then vary sentence patterns while keeping them controlled.
