In some societies, stress is now regarded as a major problem, and it is thought that people suffer from more stress than they did in the past. However, others feel that the amount of stress people have today is exaggerated. They say that previous generations were under more pressure, but the idea of suffering from stress did not exist.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
You should use your own ideas, knowledge and experience and support your arguments with examples and relevant evidence.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, stress has become a major social concern. It is widely asserted that individuals encounter an increasing amount of stress today compared to the past as there are more competition in every sectors along with they have to compete with AI. On the flip side, others advocate that the older generations used to face excessive amount of pressure, however the term stress did not exist at that time. I also agree with the second viewpoint as there were no advanced techologies to carry out their daily work.
To begin, now competition has increased in everywhere from educational institutions to job sectors. As a result, they have to face extra burden mentally. For instance, students need to study hard to achieve the first position in the class. In terms of work, empolys always endeavour to show their best performace to get promotion. Apart from this, AI has started replacing human in different job categories. Therefore, people requires to be more proficient than AI in order to survive in their job areas.
On the other hand, the previous generations did not access a variety of digital tools which are present in this days. As a consequence, they had to perfrom all of their work by themselves. For instance, there were no washing machine, dish washer, AI devices. Therefore, they used to confront more work pressure which made them feel heavy physically as well as mentally. Furthermore, they did not have the oppotunity to solve a problem through internet. They used they own brain to overcome any difficulties. Nevertheless, they were not familiar with the insight of suffering stress.
To sum up, From my perspective, I believe that the older civilizations used to handle more challanges in their day to day lives as they were deprived of modern facilities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and state your own position: you describe modern competition and AI-related pressure, then argue that earlier generations faced greater practical burdens because they lacked modern tools. These points are relevant, and the examples of students, employees and household tasks help illustrate them. However, the two sides are not developed equally. The modern-stress argument is mostly asserted, and the claim that people must be “more proficient than AI” needs explanation or a more realistic example. Your conclusion repeats your preference but does not weigh the two views or clarify why older pressures were greater overall. Develop the comparison more fully and distinguish physical workload from psychological stress to make your response more complete and convincing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a concluding statement. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin,” “On the other hand,” and “To sum up” make the progression easy to follow, and examples generally appear beside the point they support. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some of the stronger control associated with a higher level. However, several links are mechanical, and some connections between claims are not fully explained. For example, the move from lacking digital tools to experiencing greater mental pressure needs a clearer causal link. The conclusion also begins with “To sum up” and then “From my perspective,” which is repetitive. Use more precise referencing and connect each example explicitly to the argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “social concern,” “competition,” “burden,” “proficient,” and “modern facilities,” so the main ideas are generally clear. There are also attempts at less common expressions, such as “endeavour” and “deprived of.” However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision: “empolys,” “performace,” “techologies,” and “oppotunity” are misspelled, while “older civilizations” is not a natural way to refer to previous generations. Some collocations are awkward, including “competition has increased in everywhere” and “face excessive amount of pressure.” Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common word partnerships, and choose vocabulary that expresses the intended meaning precisely rather than relying on ambitious but unnatural phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “as,” “which,” and “in order to,” and most of your meaning remains understandable. Some sentences are well controlled, such as “Furthermore, they did not have the opportunity to solve a problem through internet.” However, there are some recurring errors in agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “there are more competition” needs a plural or uncountable construction, “people requires” should agree in number, and “there were no washing machine” needs a plural noun. The opening sentence also joins ideas awkwardly with “as” and “along with.” Review subject–verb agreement, articles and plurals, and practise building complex sentences with clear clause relationships.
