IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In some societies, stress is now regarded as a major problem, and it is thought that people suffer from more stress than they did in the past. However, others feel that the amount of stress people have today is exaggerated. They say that previous generations were under more pressure, but the idea of suffering from stress did not exist.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
You should use your own ideas, knowledge and experience and support your arguments with examples and relevant evidence.
Student answer (Band 5.0)
In the world, stress is a major problem. most of people suffer from stress like daily riutine, extra burden, behaviour of others.People get in more r extra stressed than past.
If i am giong to explain you about stress. its nothing its just thoughts, extra ordinary life creat panic situations in your surrounding.its your own creations. you feel lonely. you can not talk to others to resolve your problems. people can not take decision in right time. So, these type of asspects falls in stress.
However if we are giong to discuss about last generation or past . There were no concept of stress.people feel relax and concentrate their work.they spent most of spare time with their friends and family and discuss their routine and also their problems. They resolve their problem and issues with mutual understanding.explian the idea in simplest way and try to solve.
In my opinion last generation lived happy and healthy life style. They carried extra burden , hard work in life. But if i am talk about the presnt time or a generation
,people are so lazy. There living style is totally change.they spend most of time with mobile r watching movies/TV .They cannot like to spend time with their friend /family.They cannot discuss their problems with them and get the solution. That is why people suffered more stress as compare to past.
In the conclusion , if people more socialised and discuss their problem. They feel relax and less stress and get the solution easily like the previous generation.Where stress did not exist.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address both views and give a clear preference for the idea that people experience more stress today. The contrast between earlier generations sharing problems with family and friends and modern people spending time on phones is relevant. However, the discussion is only partly developed: claims such as “people feel relax” in the past and “people are so lazy” today are broad and are not supported with specific examples or evidence. The first view—that stress is now considered a major problem—is introduced, but its reasons are not explored in enough detail. To strengthen the response, explain why modern pressures may create stress and acknowledge more fully why earlier generations could also have faced serious pressures.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an introduction to an explanation of stress, a comparison with the past, your opinion, and a conclusion. Paragraph breaks help distinguish these stages. However, progression within paragraphs is often unclear, and several ideas are placed together without clear links, as in the opening list of “daily riutine, extra burden, behaviour of others.” Connect each point to the next with accurate, varied linking expressions and make the purpose of each paragraph clearer. The conclusion repeats the recommendation to socialise but does not neatly summarise both sides. References such as “these type of aspects” and “they” can also leave the reader unsure which ideas or people are meant.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “stress,” “burden,” “lonely,” “mutual understanding,” and “lifestyle,” so the main subject is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or combinations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “extra ordinary life creat panic situations” and “people get in more r extra stressed” do not express the intended ideas clearly. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “riutine,” “giong,” and “asspects.” Build a more precise set of phrases for causes and effects of stress, and check spelling and collocations carefully. Avoid informal shorthand such as “r” in an academic essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt some longer structures, including conditional openings such as “If I am going to explain you about stress” and contrastive sentences beginning “However.” Nevertheless, sentence patterns are limited, and attempts at complex sentences are often faulty. Errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries occur throughout: for example, “most of people suffer,” “people feel relax,” and “people suffered more stress as compare to past.” Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, with several sentences joined or separated unclearly. These problems sometimes make the reader work to understand your meaning. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then combine related ideas using controlled clauses and check subject–verb agreement and tense.
