Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

You should use your own ideas, knowledge and experience and support your arguments with examples and relevant evidence.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

Overthinking is the main reason for stess and some other problems. Few individuals strongly believe that stress is the major issue which nowaday, causes more suffering than in the past. While, other think that old generation was more under pressure but they did not know about the word "stress". However, current generation has less stress than previos generation. I think both aspects are equally important and I will list the reasons with relevan examples in upcoming paragraphs.

To initiate with, in current era, most of the people face stress and overthinking which make them to suffer from different problems like, health issues, relationship imabalance and many more. Moreover, the main reason is the addiction of social media. Because of that most of the yongsters try to follow new trends and also compare themselves with others. Therefore, this kind of behavior can cause lots of stress and make them worried. Additionally, adults also feel stress due to their career because they have to prove to their parents that they can do enything they want. Apart ftom that, society is also a reason for stressing out because society puts lots of pressure to young generation by several ways like, competition, comparing and judgements.

On the other hand, few society believe that this new generation live in less stress rather than old generation. So, they think that currently, there are many facilities and advance technologies are available for their every tasks which make their life more easy. Ferthurmore, in past, there were no such amenities which can help them and live their life without worrying and hard working. Also, they had to survive in every difficult condition because there was no proper house for living, no good meals and clothes, tension to provide better lifestyle to their family members.

To sum it all up, eventhough there are many reasons like, social platforms, career issue and society's pressure but, there were also some reasons due to that people had to suffer like, less amenities, financial burden and wirrying about family.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both perspectives: the first body paragraph links present-day stress to social media, comparison and career expectations, while the next explains how earlier generations faced hardship and fewer conveniences. Your conclusion also recognises pressures in both periods. However, the position is not fully clear: the introduction says the views are “equally important,” then states that the current generation has less stress, without explaining how these claims fit together. The discussion also tends to list causes rather than develop them with specific examples or evidence. To strengthen the response, state clearly whether you think stress is greater today, greater in the past, or simply different, and explain the comparison with a concrete example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views and a concluding summary. Connectors such as “Moreover,” “On the other hand” and “To sum it all up” help signal the direction of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes list-like, and some linking is mechanical or unclear. For example, “Because of that” begins a fragment, while “So, they think” repeats the preceding idea rather than advancing it. The conclusion gathers points but does not resolve the contrast or restate a consistent position. Use clearer links between cause and consequence, and make each paragraph develop one central claim before moving to examples.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “social media,” “career,” “competition,” “financial burden” and “amenities,” and you attempt phrases such as “under pressure” and “lifestyle.” However, the range is limited and several spelling, word-form and collocation errors make the writing less precise, including “stess,” “previos,” “imabalance,” “yongsters” and “advance technologies.” Some expressions are also unnatural, such as “relationship imbalance” and “make their life more easy.” These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the main ideas, but they are noticeable. Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common word partnerships, for example, “relationship problems,” “advanced technology” and “make life easier.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “because,” “which” and “although,” and the overall meaning is generally understandable. However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently in agreement, sentence construction, articles and punctuation. For example, “other think” and “most of the people … which make them” show agreement problems; “Because of that most of the youngsters…” is an incomplete sentence; and “there were no such amenities which can help them and live their life” has an unclear clause structure and inconsistent tense. Commas are also often placed awkwardly around lists and conjunctions. Practise building complete sentences with one clear subject and verb, then check agreement and tense consistency.
