Student answer (Band 6.0)

Some communities identify stress as a major issue which is more frequent within people now a days. In contrast, others argue that the idea of the people suffering from more stress present days is overstated, rather earlier generations felt more pressure, nevertheless the concept of stress were not invented then. This essay will discuss both views before potraying my opinion which is siding with the first view.

In this modern era, people always need to fight and compete in their daily life for better lifstyle as well as their survival. For instance, as the population is continuously increasing, job opportunities are going down. Furthermore, extra population putting an immense pressure upon the price of daily need goods. In addition, congestion and environment pollution also happening because of this. As a result, peoples are facing more mental and physical challanges than earlier days when population was less, which are leading people towards excessive stressfull situation than earlier.

However, although older generations dealt with comparatively more recoures with less population than present time, the technology and communication system were not that much developed. Due to lake of technology people could not predict and overcome many environmental and health issues. For instance, people earlier days faced much more damages in various natural disasters and suffer from food and habitat crisis. Furthermore, treatment were not easy for people as medical science were not that upgraded. Consequently these issues put pressure on peoples mind and lead to stressful situations. Nevertheless, the idea of stress were not popularises that time.

In conclusion, it is evident that the both views have supporting elements. Nevertheless, the stress level of present days are more as people face more challanges in social, financial and environmental aspects than earlier time, which supports siding with the view of todays people are suffering from more stresses than before.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and state your position clearly: the introduction says you side with the view that stress is more common today, and the conclusion restates this. The discussion is relevant, with present-day competition, employment, living costs and environmental pressures contrasted with earlier difficulties such as disasters, food shortages and limited medical care. However, some points are asserted rather than explained. For example, the link between population growth and stress is presented broadly, and the earlier-generation argument could more directly explain how these pressures compare with modern ones. The claim that older generations had “more recoures with less population” is also unclear, which weakens that part of the comparison. Develop the key reasons with clearer explanation or a specific example to make the response more fully supported.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion that returns to your position. The contrast between the two main arguments is easy to follow, and signposts such as “In contrast,” “However” and “In conclusion” help guide the reader. Cohesion is sometimes mechanical, though, because several sentences begin with “Furthermore” or “In addition,” and the repeated use of “Nevertheless” does not always mark a clear relationship between ideas. Some references are also difficult to follow, particularly “these issues” and “which are leading people,” where the exact cause or referent is not fully clear. Use a wider range of linking methods and make connections between claims more explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary for the topic, including “immense pressure,” “job opportunities,” “environmental issues,” “natural disasters” and “medical science.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and the meaning is generally recoverable. However, inaccurate word choice, collocation and spelling are noticeable and sometimes make the argument less precise. Examples include “more frequent within people,” “daily need goods,” “recoures,” “lake of technology,” “stressfull situation” and “more stresses.” Some expressions appear to be direct or awkward combinations rather than natural English. Aim to learn vocabulary in common collocations and check spelling and word forms carefully; this will make your ideas clearer and more fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “although,” “as” and “when,” and most of the argument remains understandable. Some grammatical errors occur, particularly with subject–verb agreement, articles, plurals and verb forms. For example, “the concept of stress were not invented” should use a singular verb, while “treatment were not easy” has a plural verb with a singular subject. In “extra population putting an immense pressure,” the clause needs a finite verb, and “the stress level of present days are more” has a mismatch between subject and verb. Review agreement and sentence completeness, then proofread longer sentences to ensure each clause has a clear subject and correctly formed verb.
