Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the table’s subject and report several relevant comparisons, including the first-ranked company’s 56 employees and 5% turnover, and the fifth-ranked company’s 190 employees. However, the response only partially summarises the main features: it gives no clear overview of the most striking patterns across the table, and several important figures are omitted, such as the high-income percentages and the fifth company’s 33% turnover. Some details are inaccurate or incomplete: the fourth company has 76 staff, which is four more than the third’s 72, not “only 4 bigger” without a clear comparison; the age-group comparison is left unfinished. Develop a concise overview and select a few accurate, contrasting figures to support it.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has some organisation: it begins with an introduction, then discusses the top-ranked companies before moving to the fourth and fifth. Linking expressions such as “whereas” and “On the other hand” show an attempt to compare information. However, there is no distinct, effective overview, and the progression is difficult to follow because the discussion moves through rankings without a clear organising principle. References such as “the least company” are unclear, and the final sentence breaks off at “any w,” leaving the comparison incomplete. Group the information into a clear overview and focused detail paragraphs, and use precise references such as “the fifth-ranked company” to make relationships easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing the table, including “staff turnover,” “ratio,” “age bracket,” and “positioned company.” This gives the response a basic range for reporting comparisons. However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or informal, which sometimes makes the meaning unclear. Examples include “best selected company,” “least level company,” “kinda fifty fofty,” and “5 percentages.” Repetition of “company” and “staff members” also limits flexibility. Aim for standard report language and accurate forms, such as “highest-ranked company,” “lowest-ranked company,” “a roughly equal gender split,” and “5%.” Check spelling and use formal wording consistently.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including comparisons with “whereas” and “On the other hand,” but control is inconsistent. Errors in agreement and sentence structure appear in examples such as “The first position winner company had only 56 employee” and “the least company had the highest number of employee which is 190.” Articles, plurals, and punctuation are also unreliable, as in “For the fourth placed company … 76. the ratio,” where the sentence boundary and capitalisation are faulty. The final sentence is incomplete, so its grammatical meaning cannot be followed. Practise accurate sentence patterns for reporting figures, checking subject–verb agreement, articles, plural nouns, and complete sentence endings.
