Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response attempts to summarize the data but fails to provide a clear overview or a logical structure. While it identifies some specific figures, the reporting is fragmented and lacks a cohesive comparison of the five companies. The description of the data is often imprecise; for example, referring to 'third company' or 'fifth company' without clearly linking them to the provided table makes the information difficult to follow. The response lacks a clear summary of the main trends, such as the contrast between the high-earning percentages in companies 1 and 2 versus the lower percentages in companies 4 and 5. To improve, ensure you present a clear overview of the most significant features before detailing specific data points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The organization of the response is weak. The ideas are presented in a disjointed manner, and the paragraphing is ineffective, with the final paragraph acting more like a concluding sentence than a structured section. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Moreover' and 'However', but they are often placed awkwardly or do not effectively link the ideas. The referencing is also unclear; for instance, the transition between discussing specific companies and the final conclusion is abrupt. Improving the logical flow between sentences and using a wider range of linking words would significantly enhance the coherence of the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'most number of workers' and 'substantial amount of money' are used, but there is a lack of precision in describing statistical data. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'less a moderate number' and 'in term of finances'. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the range of vocabulary is not sufficient to demonstrate a higher level of control. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise terminology for data reporting, such as 'proportion', 'percentage', 'majority', and 'minority', and ensure collocations are natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. There are issues with article usage (e.g., 'Table represents', 'conducted survey'), subject-verb agreement, and sentence structure. For example, 'almost gender ratio is equal' is awkward, and 'in contrast numbers of high salaried persons' lacks necessary punctuation and clarity. The range of structures is limited, relying mostly on simple sentences. To improve, work on the correct use of articles, prepositions, and complex sentence structures. Proofreading for basic errors like missing articles and incorrect word order will help improve the accuracy of your writing.
