Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
The response effectively summarizes the main features of the table. You have successfully identified key trends, such as the inverse relationship between company size and ranking, and highlighted significant data points like staff turnover and income brackets. The overview is clear and provides a good summary of the data. To reach a higher band, ensure that all comparisons are fully supported by the data; for instance, when mentioning the third company's gender ratio, providing the specific figures would strengthen the analysis. Overall, the response covers all requirements of the task well.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs focusing on specific categories. The use of cohesive devices such as 'In contrast', 'Regarding', and 'As for' helps guide the reader through the data. However, there are some minor issues with punctuation and flow, such as the missing capitalization at the start of sentences (e.g., 'the second and foruth compnay') and some slightly awkward phrasing. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different aspects of the data, which contributes to a coherent structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You have used a sufficient range of vocabulary to describe the data, including terms like 'workforce size', 'gender ratio', 'age distribution', and 'high-income bracket'. There are some spelling errors, such as 'employes', 'propations', 'smalled', 'signifcantly', 'foruth', and 'compnay', which slightly detract from the quality of the writing. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more careful proofreading. Using more precise collocations would further enhance the lexical quality.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you successfully use comparative structures, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, such as missing articles ('the third company had'), subject-verb agreement issues, and typos. For example, 'the third company by far the highest propotions' is missing a verb. Despite these errors, the meaning remains clear throughout the report. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and sentence construction will help improve your score in this criterion.
