Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response attempts to address the task by summarizing the provided table. However, the information is presented in a fragmented and often confusing manner. While you identify some categories, the data points are frequently inaccurate or difficult to interpret (e.g., the mention of '30.70 or 13.86 ratio'). The overview is vague and does not clearly highlight the main trends or significant comparisons between the five companies. To improve, focus on selecting the most prominent features—such as the highest and lowest values across categories—and present them with clear, accurate data. The current lack of clarity regarding the figures makes it difficult for the reader to understand the actual content of the table.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression of ideas is weak. Transitions between sentences are often abrupt or missing, making the text feel like a list of disjointed observations rather than a cohesive report. For example, the shift between discussing staff numbers and male/female ratios lacks a clear linking device. While some cohesive devices like 'Furthermore' and 'In contrast' are used, they are often applied mechanically or incorrectly. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph has a clear focus and that sentences flow logically from one to the next using a variety of linking words and referencing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'increase', 'decrease', and 'company' throughout the text. There are also significant issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'fall top in a survey' instead of 'ranked highest' or 'top-ranked'. Some phrases are unintelligible, such as 'grow best work'. To improve, you should aim to use more precise vocabulary related to data description, such as 'proportion', 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'outperformed'. Expanding your range of descriptive adjectives and adverbs will help you convey the data more accurately and professionally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'The table provide', 'low ranked company are'), missing articles, and incorrect sentence structures. Many sentences are fragmented or lack a clear subject and verb, making them difficult to parse. While there is an attempt to use complex structures, these are often faulty and lead to confusion. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring that every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and proofreading for common errors like pluralization and verb tense consistency.
