Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to adequately report the main features of the data. While it mentions the five companies, the description of the statistics is confusing and inaccurate. For instance, the claim that 'over 55 people have a nearly 0%' is unclear, and the analysis of the male/female ratio is poorly explained. The response lacks a clear overview of the key trends, such as the dominance of younger staff or the varying levels of high income. The information is presented in a fragmented way, making it difficult for the reader to grasp the comparative data provided in the table. To improve, focus on identifying the most significant data points rather than listing individual figures.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The introduction is poorly constructed, and the body paragraph lacks a clear structure, jumping between categories without effective transitions. Cohesive devices are either missing or used incorrectly, such as the phrase 'On the next line we can see,' which refers to the table layout rather than the data itself. The referencing is often unclear, making it difficult to follow which company or category is being discussed. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear focus would significantly enhance the flow of the writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. There are several spelling errors, such as 'campanies' and 'britain' (which should be capitalized). The phrasing is often unnatural, for example, 'majority goes to female' and 'staffs which get a good amount of income.' The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe data effectively; instead of using precise terms like 'proportion,' 'percentage,' or 'majority,' the writer relies on basic, informal language. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate more academic vocabulary related to data analysis and ensure correct spelling and capitalization.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'The table... illustrate' and 'majority goes to female.' Sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at complex sentences are often faulty or awkward, such as 'Staffs which get a good amount of income is seen in the 3rd position.' Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and capitalization. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subjects and verbs agree, and practicing the correct use of articles and prepositions.
