Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to cover the data provided in the table, but it fails to effectively summarise the main features or make meaningful comparisons. Instead of grouping information or highlighting trends, the response lists data points in a repetitive, mechanical fashion (e.g., 'in 1st is 77%/0% in 2nd 59%/1%'). This approach results in a lack of analytical overview. While all categories are mentioned, the lack of synthesis and the failure to identify key differences or similarities between the companies means the task is only partially addressed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a logical structure. It is written as a single, dense paragraph that makes it difficult for the reader to follow the information. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link ideas; instead, the writer relies on repetitive phrases like 'in 1st is', 'in 2nd is', and 'now we shall talk about'. The progression of information is disjointed, and the lack of paragraphing makes the text feel like a list of raw data rather than a coherent report.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive. The writer uses basic terms such as 'talk about', 'do work best', and 'term' to describe the data categories. There is no attempt to use more sophisticated vocabulary related to data analysis, such as 'proportion', 'fluctuation', 'majority', or 'significant'. The phrasing is often unnatural, such as 'the 3rd company doing best work', which lacks a proper verb structure. The range is insufficient to convey the information with precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede the flow of reading. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('This table give us'), missing articles, and incorrect sentence structures ('I shall explore that which one company do work best'). The punctuation is also poor, with inconsistent spacing around commas and periods. The writer relies almost exclusively on simple sentence structures, and attempts at more complex sentences are often grammatically incorrect, which limits the range and accuracy significantly.
