Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to summarize the data but fails to provide a clear overview or highlight the most significant trends. While it mentions staff numbers and ratios, it lacks a cohesive summary of the main features. The description of the data is fragmented and repetitive, often listing figures without meaningful comparison or synthesis. For instance, the mention of 'most of staff is under 35s' is a vague observation that lacks specific reference to the provided data. To improve, you should group the companies by key characteristics rather than listing them one by one, and ensure you identify the most striking differences or similarities across the categories provided.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a clear structure and logical progression. It is written as a single, dense paragraph that makes it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link ideas; sentences are often joined by simple commas or run-on structures, such as '1st company contains 56 employes which is least number where 2nd ,3rd and 4th company contains employe between 72 to 79'. The use of referencing is mechanical and repetitive, which hinders the flow of information. Paragraphing is absent, and the transition between different data points is abrupt.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is basic and repetitive. You frequently use the word 'company' and 'ratio' without variation. There are several spelling errors, such as 'employes' instead of 'employees', and grammatical inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'is the has most employes'. The range of vocabulary is limited to the terms provided in the prompt, with little attempt to use synonyms or more sophisticated descriptive language. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate a wider range of vocabulary related to data description, such as 'proportion', 'majority', 'minority', 'fluctuate', or 'significant'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('company contains', 'company is the has'), missing articles ('the table', 'the 1st company'), and incorrect punctuation. The sentence structures are primarily simple or poorly constructed compound sentences. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the misuse of commas and run-on sentences makes the text difficult to read. Improving your control over basic sentence construction and ensuring correct article usage will significantly enhance the readability and accuracy of your writing.
