Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to summarize the data but fails to provide a clear overview or effectively highlight the main features. The description of the companies is fragmented and relies on listing individual data points rather than making meaningful comparisons. Furthermore, the inclusion of a personal opinion ('So in my opinion 2nd one is best') is inappropriate for an Academic Task 1 report, which requires an objective summary of the data. The information provided is often vague, such as referring to '1st one' or '4th one' without clear context, and the analysis of the figures is inconsistent, making it difficult for the reader to grasp the key trends.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response lacks a logical structure. It is written as a single block of text, which hinders readability. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link ideas, and the progression of information is disjointed. The referencing is often unclear, as the writer uses '1st one', '2nd one', etc., without clearly identifying the company names or categories. Paragraphing is absent, and the transition between sentences is mechanical and repetitive. To improve, the writer should group related information into distinct paragraphs and use linking words to connect comparisons effectively.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. The writer frequently uses basic phrases like 'very low', 'very high', and 'compared to'. There are inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'came up in a survey' instead of 'featured in a survey' and 'income of the staff is very high which was 34%', which is confusing as 34% likely refers to a different metric. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to convey the data with precision, and the reliance on simple, repetitive structures limits the ability to describe the trends accurately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('it have', '5th one have'), incorrect article usage ('in the Britain'), and awkward sentence construction ('the position is survey depends on'). The sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors that impede clarity. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly regarding the use of commas and sentence boundaries. A greater focus on basic grammatical accuracy and sentence variety is required to reach a higher band score.
