Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the task by identifying some key features, such as staff numbers, gender ratios, and income brackets. However, the analysis is inconsistent and contains factual inaccuracies. For instance, you state that the fourth company is the 'best' to work for, which contradicts the data provided in the table regarding income and age demographics. Furthermore, the summary lacks a clear overview of the main trends. To improve, ensure you accurately interpret the data and provide a concise summary of the most significant differences between the companies rather than listing individual points without a clear analytical focus.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response is organized into a single paragraph, which makes it difficult to follow the progression of ideas. While there are some attempts at cohesive devices (e.g., 'While', 'In case of'), they are often used repetitively or incorrectly, leading to a mechanical flow. The lack of paragraphing is a significant issue; a clear introduction, body paragraphs for comparisons, and a concluding summary would greatly enhance the structure. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the data to guide the reader logically through your analysis.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision required for a higher band. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'different type of works' and 'worst scenario'. There are also some awkward collocations and minor errors, such as 'Britian' (spelling) and 'staff person'. To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more specific vocabulary related to data analysis, such as 'proportion', 'distribution', 'demographics', and 'remuneration'. Expanding your range of descriptive adjectives and adverbs will also help you describe the trends more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'the company which gained the top position in ranking has lowest staff member of 56 numbers only' and 'the best the best company'. There are also issues with article usage and pluralization. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Proofreading for basic errors and practicing more complex sentence structures, such as relative clauses and passive voice, will help you demonstrate better control over your writing.
