Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response attempts to summarize the data, but it fails to clearly identify and report the main features. The description of the data is confusing and lacks precision; for example, referring to '5th companies' and '1st company' without clear context makes the information difficult to follow. The comparisons are poorly articulated, and the analysis of trends is inaccurate or vague, such as the mention of a 'zig zag path'. The response does not provide a clear overview of the data, and the lack of clarity in reporting the figures means the reader cannot easily understand the information presented in the table. To improve, focus on clearly stating the key trends and selecting specific data points to support your observations.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The response lacks logical organization and progression. While there are some attempts at paragraphing, the ideas within the paragraphs are disjointed and difficult to follow. Cohesive devices are used ineffectively or incorrectly, such as 'moving head if follow inclined', which creates confusion rather than linking ideas. The referencing is unclear, making it difficult to determine which data points are being discussed. The overall structure is mechanical and fails to guide the reader through the information in a logical manner. Improved use of linking words and clearer sentence structure would significantly enhance the flow of the writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is limited and often used incorrectly, which impedes communication. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'tabular card' instead of 'table' and 'predominant place' used repeatedly in inappropriate contexts. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe the data accurately, leading to repetitive and vague phrasing. Spelling errors, such as 'companiez' and 'ratois', further detract from the quality of the writing. To reach a higher band, you should focus on learning specific vocabulary related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'peaked', 'remained stable', and 'proportion'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often distort the meaning. There is a very limited range of sentence structures, and most attempts at complex sentences are faulty. Issues include incorrect subject-verb agreement, missing articles, and awkward phrasing, such as '1st company leads only 56 moving with 2nd in 79'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and periods. The lack of control over basic grammar makes the text difficult to read and understand. Focusing on mastering simple sentence structures before attempting more complex ones would be a beneficial step for improvement.
