Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to provide a clear summary of the main features. Instead of grouping data logically or highlighting significant trends, the student provides a disjointed list of raw figures. The attempt to describe the data is hindered by a lack of clarity, and the 'overview' provided is too vague to be meaningful. The response does not effectively compare the companies, and the presentation of data is confusing, making it difficult for the reader to identify the key information from the table. To improve, focus on identifying the most significant data points and grouping them into coherent paragraphs rather than listing every figure.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The response lacks logical organization and progression. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the content within the paragraphs is not cohesive. The use of linking words is minimal and often misused, such as 'wheares that case thera are stable,' which does not contribute to the flow of ideas. The referencing is unclear, and the lack of proper sentence structure makes the text difficult to follow. To improve, use clear topic sentences for each paragraph and employ a wider range of cohesive devices like 'in contrast,' 'furthermore,' or 'consequently' to connect ideas logically.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive. There are numerous spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'elucidate' (used incorrectly), 'diffrent,' 'catagrioes,' 'flucaction,' 'increament,' and 'thje.' The student relies on basic terminology and fails to use appropriate academic language to describe data trends. Many phrases are fragmented, such as 'in position survey,' which is repeated excessively. To improve, focus on learning vocabulary related to data description, such as 'proportion,' 'fluctuated,' 'remained stable,' and 'significant,' while paying closer attention to spelling and word choice.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede communication. There is a lack of control over basic sentence structures, with many sentences being incomplete or ungrammatical, such as 'The given bar chart elucidate information' (subject-verb agreement error) and '2nd 79% 3rd 72 4th 76 5th 190' (lack of full sentences). Punctuation is also inconsistent, and there is no evidence of complex sentence structures. To improve, focus on constructing complete sentences with a clear subject, verb, and object, and practice using articles, prepositions, and correct verb tenses consistently.
