Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response attempts to summarize the data but fails to clearly identify and report the main features. The information provided is often inaccurate or confusing, such as the claim that the fifth company has a 2% high-income bracket when the data shows otherwise. The overview is vague and does not effectively highlight the key trends or significant comparisons between the companies. Many figures are presented in a list-like fashion without meaningful analysis or synthesis. To improve, you must ensure that your data extraction is precise and that you group information logically to show clear trends rather than simply listing numbers.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The essay lacks a clear logical structure. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the ideas within the paragraphs are disjointed and difficult to follow. Cohesive devices are either missing or used incorrectly, such as 'The end of the talk that...', which is not appropriate for an academic report. The progression of ideas is hindered by frequent grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, making it difficult for the reader to identify the relationship between the different data points. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear focus would significantly enhance the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is very limited and often inappropriate for an academic task. There are frequent errors in word choice, such as 'factories' instead of 'companies', 'sketch' instead of 'survey', and 'behave' instead of 'conducted'. These errors often impede communication and make the text sound unnatural. You rely on basic, repetitive language and struggle to use precise terminology to describe data trends (e.g., 'at peak' is used repeatedly and incorrectly). To reach a higher band, you should focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to data analysis and improving your grasp of basic collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often distort the intended meaning. There are significant issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'The table provide'), incorrect verb tenses, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, making them difficult to parse. For example, 'the staff numbers is 190' and 'the staff that are turnover the 5th company is at peak' are grammatically incorrect and confusing. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the basic sentences attempted are rarely error-free. Focusing on fundamental grammar rules, such as pluralization and verb conjugation, is essential for improvement.
