Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response attempts to address the task by mentioning elements of the table, such as staff numbers, income brackets, and ratios. However, the information is presented in a very confused and disjointed manner. Data points are frequently misread or inaccurately reported, such as claiming that the staff number for the fifth company is the highest at 190 (which is correct) but mixing up percentages and rankings across the other categories. There is no clear overview of the main trends or significant features of the table, and the comparisons made are often difficult to follow. The writing touches upon the prompt only minimally and tangentially, failing to construct a coherent summary of the visual data provided.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

Information and ideas are not arranged coherently in this response. There is a complete lack of a clear overall progression, and the division into paragraphs is arbitrary and fails to group related data logically. Sentences are strung together with very weak or incorrect logical links, such as 'from staff numbers to income of worker' and 'by contrast the combined changes of all the firms over the period.' Transitional phrases are either misused or absent, making it extremely difficult for the reader to follow the flow of information or understand how different data points relate to one another.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic, repetitive, and heavily relies on lifting words directly from the prompt. There are frequent word choice and word formation errors, such as 'dramticaly' (dramatically), 'reach' instead of reached, and awkward phrasings like 'second lowest ratio butt in 4th company its 13.87'. The range of vocabulary is limited and inadequate for a precise discussion of statistical data, struggling with terms related to charts and tables. These lexical limitations and frequent spelling errors often strain the reader's understanding and impede smooth communication of the data.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response displays a very limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple, fragmented, or poorly constructed compound sentences. There are frequent, heavy grammatical errors throughout, including missing or incorrect articles (e.g., 'The table show survey'), incorrect verb tenses, subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'staff member is just 56'), and severe punctuation errors. Complex structures are attempted but are almost always faulty or incomplete, resulting in sentences that distort meaning or cause significant difficulty for the reader to parse.
