Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
You identify the table’s general subject and mention several relevant categories, including staff turnover and the high-income bracket. However, the main features are not accurately or clearly summarised: the claim that the fifth-ranked company has the highest percentage of staff over 35 and over 55 misreads the age data, and “staff turnover shows significant rise in the 3stage” does not describe the figures correctly. There is no clear overview of the strongest contrasts, such as the fifth company’s largest workforce and highest turnover versus the first company’s lowest turnover. The response also falls 18 words short of the 150-word minimum; the 19 words copied from the prompt are excluded. Select a few accurate comparisons and explain them clearly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
The response has an attempt at paragraphing and uses signposts such as “firstly,” “whereas,” and “moreover,” so the reader can see an effort to organise the information. However, the ideas do not progress in a clear sequence: the opening combines the introduction with an unclear claim, and the later paragraphs repeat points about the fifth company and high-income percentages rather than developing distinct comparisons. Several linking words are used inaccurately or without a clear relationship between clauses, particularly “whereas” and “on the contrary.” Group the information into a brief overview and focused comparisons, and use connectors only when their logical relationship is clear.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some task-related vocabulary, including “staff turnover,” “high income bracket,” “percentage,” and “ratio,” which shows an attempt to describe the table rather than relying entirely on general language. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning difficult to follow: “5 stages of the componies,” “staff member noticed highest number,” and “there are lots of percentages is despite” do not express the intended comparisons naturally. Spelling errors such as “componies,” “catagories,” and “breacket” also reduce accuracy. Learn common chart phrases such as “ranked fifth,” “accounted for,” and “the highest proportion,” and check spelling before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0
You attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences, for example with “whereas” and “however,” but most sentence patterns are not controlled well enough to communicate the comparisons reliably. Problems include missing or incorrect articles and prepositions, as in “in the 5 th stage,” and faulty sentence construction in “there are lots of percentages is despite.” Subject–verb agreement and plural forms are also inconsistent, as in “staff in high income bracket shows.” Punctuation is weak, with missing spaces after commas and a run-on opening sentence. Practise writing short, complete comparison sentences first, then combine them using accurate clauses and punctuation.
