THE FIVE BEST SMALL COMPANIES TO WORK FOR

THE FIVE BEST SMALL COMPANIES TO WORK FOR

Student answer (Band 5.0)

The given table illustrates that five small companies in britain that came top in a survey of staff conducted by a national newspaper to find out whuch companies are the best to work for.

The survey of the first country explains that it has a quit less number of staff then other countries and the ratio of the staff is 30:70 which is also less then other countries, and if we talk about the age of the staff the 1st country have about 77% of staff whos age is under 35s . Now if we talk about the staff turnovers this country has the lowest among all others, and the staff with the highest income bracket makes this country 3rd ranked

Now if we talk about the 2nd country's survey it gives us the information of the total staff which is 79. The male female ratio is quit balenced in this country and the age variation is 59% under 35s and 1% over 55s.The staff turn over in this country is 18% which is a high number. Moreover, the staff with high income bracket is 48% in the 2nd ranked country.

Now moving to the next country the 3rd in the list, it has a staff of 72 members and shockingly the raito of the staff is much greater in male expect other countries.the staff in this country is mostly young having 82% staff age under 35s, so thia country must be working very hard with younger staff.Mving to the next we have the staff turnovers which is 8% in total.the staff with the high income is 74%.Now the 4th countries survey shows us that it has a total number of 76 staff which have male raito 13 and female raito 87, this country have the highest women workers.Passing through the age row we have 26% staff under 35s and 8% staff over 55s and the staff turnover and high income bracket raito is 13% and 5%.

Moving to the last 5th country it has the highest staff members of all the other countries and the male female raito is pretty much balanced not too much or too less and the age raito is very high in under 35s (93%).The staff turnover raito in this country is 33% and the staff with high income is 2%

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You report several relevant figures, including the first-ranked company’s 5% turnover, the third-ranked company’s 74% high-income share, and the fifth-ranked company’s 190 employees and 33% turnover. However, the response is largely a company-by-company account and lacks a clear overview of the main patterns. Some comparisons are inaccurate: the first company’s staff number and male share are not the lowest among all companies, and the third company has the highest male share, not a ratio “much greater” than the others in an otherwise clear comparison. The opening also repeats the task rather than summarising the findings. To strengthen the response, identify broad contrasts—such as the fifth company’s high turnover and low high-income share—and report the data precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response is divided into paragraphs and generally follows the survey ranking from first to fifth, so readers can identify which company each section discusses. However, this sequence becomes repetitive, with transitions such as “Now if we talk about” and “Moving to the next” repeatedly announcing the next item rather than showing meaningful relationships between the data. There is also no distinct overview to guide the reader through the main comparisons, and some long paragraphs combine several categories without clear internal organisation. Grouping companies by notable similarities or contrasts, and using a concise overview followed by focused details, would create clearer progression and reduce mechanical linking.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant terms, including “staff turnover,” “male female ratio,” “under 35s,” and “high income bracket,” which help communicate the table’s categories. However, vocabulary is limited and repetitive, particularly the repeated phrase “if we talk about,” and several choices are inaccurate or informal, such as “the first country” for a company and “shockingly” for a neutral data description. Spelling errors—including “whuch,” “balenced,” and “raito”—are noticeable and sometimes make the text harder to read. Aim for precise reporting language such as “ranked company,” “proportion,” and “accounted for,” and check spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, and the reader can usually understand the figures being reported. However, complex sentences are often poorly controlled, and frequent errors affect clarity. For example, “the 1st country have” has subject–verb disagreement, while “the staff of the first country explains that it has” uses an unclear subject and reference. Articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, as in “the staff with the highest income bracket makes this country 3rd ranked.” Several sentences run together without appropriate punctuation. Use shorter, complete sentences when listing figures, and check agreement, verb forms, and punctuation before combining clauses.
