Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify several relevant features, including the third-ranked company’s high-income figure, the first company’s low turnover, and the fifth company’s large workforce and high turnover. However, some comparisons are inaccurate or unclear: the fifth company has the highest staff turnover, but it does not rank top for the proportion of under-35s; that is the third company (82%), while the fifth has 93%. The overview also says the third company provides high income, but does not report its actual 74%, the highest figure. Important contrasts such as the companies’ differing gender balances and the fifth company’s low high-income share are only partly covered. Select the main patterns and report them precisely, distinguishing survey rank from individual data rankings.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and a paragraph of supporting details. This helps the reader identify the topic and some key comparisons. However, progression within the final paragraph is limited: it moves from the first company to the fifth, then the fourth, third and second, without a clear grouping or consistent comparison. Linking words such as “Moreover” and “While” are used, but relationships between details are sometimes unclear, and the overview repeats points later rather than setting up a clear summary of the main patterns. Organise the details into meaningful comparisons—for example, workforce and turnover, then age, gender and income—and use references that make each company easy to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “staff turnover,” “workforce,” “high income” and “ranked,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, such as “provide high income to the workers,” “recommended by most of the staff member,” and “numbers of staff.” Spelling errors—including “companey,” “noticable,” “copartively” and “signeficant”—are noticeable and reduce the clarity and polish of the report. Aim for precise, neutral language for describing data, such as “had the highest proportion,” “employed,” and “staff turnover rate.” Check spelling carefully and avoid implying that the table measures recommendations when it reports income brackets.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts some longer sentence forms, including “While” and “Moreover” constructions, but control is inconsistent and most sentences rely on basic patterns. Errors in agreement and verb forms appear in phrases such as “the 5th ranked company have” and “they provide,” where the subject is singular. Articles and sentence construction are also problematic in “find out best companies to work” and “the 5th companey have signeficant highest number of staff is 190.” These errors sometimes make relationships between the data difficult to understand. Practise accurate simple comparisons first, then combine them using controlled complex structures. Pay particular attention to singular subjects, articles, and avoiding two competing verb structures in one clause.
