Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You include several relevant figures, such as the first company’s 56 employees, 30:70 gender ratio and 5% turnover, and you correctly identify the third company’s 74% high-income share as the highest and the fifth’s 2% as the lowest. However, the overview, “all five companies are best to work for,” largely repeats the title rather than summarising the main patterns. Important comparisons are also missing: for example, the fifth company has the most staff and highest turnover, while the fourth has the fewest under-35s and the largest over-55 share. Some details are inaccurate or unclear: the third company has 82% under-35s, but the fifth has 93%, not merely “above 80%”; the second and fourth have 79 and 76 employees, respectively, rather than almost the same number being explained further. Select and compare the key contrasts more systematically.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, a paragraph about the first and second companies, and one about the third and fifth. This gives the reader some organisation, and phrases such as “while” help signal a comparison. However, the progression is incomplete: the fourth company is mentioned only briefly, and the discussion does not move through the table in a consistent or clearly comparative way. Several details are grouped together without clear links, as in the long sentence beginning “The second and forth companies…”. The overview also does not guide the reader toward the main patterns. Use a distinct overview paragraph, then organise the body around meaningful contrasts—such as age, turnover and income—and use clear references to each company.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-related vocabulary, including “staff turnover,” “ratio,” “percentage” and “high income bracket,” so the main subject is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, which makes parts of the report harder to follow. For example, “table chart” is redundant, “56 number of members” is an awkward way to describe staff numbers, and “the staff come in high income bracket accounted for” is not a natural collocation. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “compaines,” “empolyees” and “thrid.” Aim for precise reporting language such as “employed,” “accounted for” and “the proportion of staff,” and check spelling carefully. Avoid repeating “company” and “members” when more exact terms are available.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts some longer sentences and comparisons, but grammatical errors are frequent, and several sentences are difficult to process. Subject–verb agreement is inconsistent: “the first company have” and “The thrid company have” should use a singular verb. The sentence “the percentage of the ages under 35s covers 77 percent” also has an unclear grammatical structure, while “the staff come in high income bracket accounted for 34 percent” combines verb forms incorrectly. Articles and prepositions are often missing, as in “in high bracket,” and the long sentence about the second and fourth companies contains several clauses without clear grammatical control. Use shorter, complete sentences and check agreement, articles and verb forms. You can still vary sentence patterns, but accuracy should come before adding complexity.
