Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the table’s subject and report several relevant figures, including the first-ranked company’s 56 employees, 30:70 male-to-female ratio, 5% turnover and 34% high-income share, as well as the fifth company’s 190 staff and 33% turnover. However, the response mainly lists details about the first company and gives only a brief, incomplete comparison of the others. Some information is inaccurate or unclear: “the woman ratio is 30:70” reverses the table’s male:female label, and the second, third and fourth companies’ key differences are not explained. The overview (“different position” and “different amount”) does not identify the main patterns, such as the fifth company’s highest turnover or the third company’s highest high-income proportion. Select and compare the most notable features more clearly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening, a paragraph about the top-ranked company, a paragraph mentioning the remaining companies, and a concluding sentence. This gives the reader some sense of the topic and sequence. However, progression is limited because most details are grouped loosely rather than compared in a clear order. Phrases such as “The other four companies” and “Other one” do not make the relationships between the companies clear, while “To conclude that” does not form a clear concluding link. The final sentence largely repeats that the figures differ instead of summarising the main patterns. Use paragraphs to group comparable features—for example, staff profile and turnover—and connect the companies through explicit comparisons.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use basic vocabulary relevant to the table, including “members,” “ratio,” “turnover,” “income” and “position,” so the general subject can be understood. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, which sometimes strains meaning. “Hardwork” is not supported by the table, which reports survey results rather than reasons for ranking; “workers … leave this company and turn to next” is an unclear way to describe turnover; and “jobs of women” does not express the male-to-female staff ratio precisely. Spelling errors such as “tabls,” “comapany” and “ammount” also reduce control. Build a more precise set of terms for describing staff numbers, proportions, rankings and comparisons, and check spelling before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response communicates some information through short statements, but sentence structures are very limited and errors occur frequently. For example, “First company have 56 members” lacks an article and has incorrect subject–verb agreement; “The other four companies also got position” has an unclear grammatical structure; and “To conclude that” is an incomplete opening for the final sentence. Several sentences join multiple facts with “and” without clear grammatical relationships, making the information harder to follow. Punctuation and capitalisation are also inconsistent, as in “To conclude that, five companies…”. Practise accurate simple sentence patterns first, then combine related comparisons using controlled clauses. Check articles, verb agreement, sentence boundaries and punctuation.
