Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the table’s subject and include several relevant comparisons, such as the largest workforce at the fifth-ranked company and the high female share at the fourth. You also report the income-bracket figures for all five companies. However, the overview is unclear and includes an inaccurate generalisation: it says three companies have staff under 35, although all five have some, and the claim that two companies have more female workers is not a useful summary of the overall pattern. Some key figures are omitted, while “335” for the fifth company’s turnover appears to misreport 33%. To strengthen the response, give a precise overview of the main contrasts and check every figure against the table.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic paragraph structure: an introduction and overview are followed by details about the companies. This gives the reader some organisation, and comparisons such as the first company’s 5% turnover against the second’s 18% are relevant. However, the progression is not consistently clear: the final paragraph moves between the third, fifth and fourth companies, and the overview’s points are not developed in a clear order. Linking words such as “Moreover,” “However” and “Although” are frequent, but some do not express the relationship accurately. Grouping the companies by a clear feature—for example, workforce and age, then turnover and income—and using fewer, more precise transitions would improve cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “male:female ratio,” “staff turnover” and “high income bracket,” which helps communicate the table’s categories. However, the range is limited and several word choices or spellings make the description less clear, including “stuff” for staff, “consiste” and “fift.” Phrases such as “highest ratio of male as compare to female” are awkward, and “335 of stuff turnover” is not an accurate or natural way to report the percentage. Aim for standard collocations such as “the proportion of female employees” and “staff turnover stood at 33%.” Proofreading spelling and choosing precise terms for people and percentages will make the information easier to follow.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast with “Although” and a comparison introduced by “while.” However, errors occur frequently and sometimes make relationships difficult to interpret. Subject–verb agreement is inconsistent in “fifth companies has” and “three companies has,” while articles and sentence structure are missing or faulty in “Companies selected through survey” and “first company consiste 56 numbers of staff.” Punctuation also disrupts some sentences, as in “while, first has lower than rest” and the capitalised “However” after a comma. Practise accurate sentence patterns such as “The fifth company has the largest workforce” and “The second company employs 79 people, of whom 59% are under 35.”
