Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the table’s subject and report several relevant comparisons, including the fifth-ranked company’s largest workforce (190) and turnover (33%), and the first-ranked company’s lowest turnover (5%). However, the response only partially summarises the data: the overview is brief, and the final sentence about age is unfinished. It also misreports the gender pattern by saying females are more numerous in all five companies; the third-ranked company has a male majority (74:26). The age figures need clearer, accurate comparison: the third-ranked company has the highest proportion under 35 (82%), while the fourth has the largest over-55 share (8%). The response is 11 words below the required minimum. Develop a complete overview and select a few accurate comparisons to cover the table more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has some organisation: an introduction is followed by an overview and paragraphs containing details, and linking expressions such as “Overall,” “In addition,” and “Moreover” show an attempt to connect ideas. However, progression is not clear throughout. The discussion moves from turnover and income to staff numbers, then age and gender, with some information repeated, such as the fifth company’s high turnover. The final paragraph ends abruptly, leaving the age comparison incomplete. Some links are also used mechanically rather than to show a precise relationship between points. Group related comparisons together—for example, workforce size and gender, then age, turnover and income—and finish each paragraph with a complete comparison. This would make the organisation easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “staff turnover,” “high income bracket,” “ranked,” and “age group,” so the reader can generally identify the topic of each point. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate, sometimes making meaning unclear. For example, “companies to work in” does not express the intended idea naturally, and “employers 190” appears to mean employees or staff. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “Britian,” “cpmapny,” “comapny,” and “fith.” Use precise terms consistently, such as “employees,” “workforce,” “ranked first,” and “proportion,” and check spelling before submitting. More accurate collocations would help you describe the figures clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a few longer sentence forms, such as “Overall, the first ranked company has least staff turnover, whereas…” and “Moreover, the age group…,” but control is inconsistent. Errors occur frequently in basic sentence construction and agreement: “The table provide” should be “The table provides,” and “It compare” should be “It compares.” Articles and comparative forms are also missing or incorrect in “has least staff turnover” and “has more employers 190.” The final line, “Under the age of 35s and 55s, third ranked postion have highest,” is incomplete and lacks a clear grammatical structure. Aim first for complete, accurate sentences, then add variety. Check subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence endings when proofreading.
