Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify several relevant comparisons, including the first-ranked company’s low staff turnover and the third-ranked company’s high-income share, and you note differences in gender balance. However, some key figures are misreported: the company with the most employees under 35 is fifth (93%), not fourth; fourth has 26%. You also say the first company has fewer staff than the fifth, but do not give the figures, and the overview does not clearly summarise the main patterns across the table. The statement that the first company ranked top “because of” its low turnover is an unsupported explanation, since the table gives no reason for the ranking. A more accurate overview and careful selection of comparisons would make the response more complete and clearer.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable overall sequence: an introduction, a general comparison, and further details about gender, age and income. This gives the reader some sense of organisation. However, the ideas are crowded into long, loosely connected sentences, and the progression between categories is not always clear. For example, “on the other hand” is used repeatedly, including when the relationship is not a contrast, while “meanwhile” and “moreover” do not consistently clarify how the figures relate. There are no clear paragraph breaks to separate the overview from detailed comparisons. Use distinct paragraphs and organise the body by related features, such as workforce profile and turnover/income, with linking phrases used only where they express the intended relationship.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “staff turnover,” “male ratio,” “female ratio,” and “high income bracket,” so the reader can identify the categories being discussed. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, such as “staff over,” “rank on 3,4,” and “reached to peak.” Spelling errors, including “surrvey,” “empolyee,” and “copmany,” also reduce the clarity and polish of the report. Aim for precise, conventional language for describing tables, such as “ranked third,” “the proportion of employees,” and “accounted for.” Proofreading spelling and avoiding awkward phrases will help you communicate the comparisons more smoothly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, for example by linking comparisons with “as compared to” and “in contrast.” However, many sentences contain errors in articles, agreement, verb forms and sentence boundaries, which sometimes make the relationships between figures difficult to follow. Examples include “the first company has less number of staff,” “company rank on 3,4 shows,” and “the all of company.” Several clauses are joined without clear punctuation, particularly in the final paragraph. Practise building accurate comparison sentences with a clear subject and verb, such as “The third-ranked company had the highest proportion of staff in the high-income bracket.” Check articles, plural forms and punctuation when editing.
