Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the table’s subject and include some relevant figures, such as the first-ranked company’s 56 employees, 30:70 male-to-female ratio, 77% under 35, and 5% turnover. However, the overview is unclear and partly inaccurate: the first company does not have the highest staff number, and turnover and high-income shares are not lowest across all companies. The comparison that the second and third companies “very fluctuates” does not report a clear feature. Several important contrasts are missed, including the fifth company’s largest workforce and highest turnover, and the third company’s highest high-income share. Select a few accurate overall patterns, then compare the companies with precise supporting figures.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is an attempt to organise the response into an opening, an overview and detail paragraphs, and sequencing phrases such as “To begin with” and “Moreover” show an effort to guide the reader. However, progression is difficult to follow because the overview makes unclear claims and the details jump between companies and categories. For example, “4Th and %th comapnies” is not a clear reference, while “second and third companies very fluctuates in all categories” does not explain the comparison. Linking expressions are sometimes used mechanically rather than to show a precise relationship. Group the information by meaningful comparisons—for example, workforce and age, then turnover and income—and use clear references to each ranking.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response uses some task-related vocabulary, including “staff turnover,” “male-female ratio,” and “high income brackets,” so the topic is recognisable. However, the range is basic and several inaccurate or misspelled expressions make the meaning harder to understand: “staff consumer” appears to mean staff numbers, “peck highest point” is unclear, and “companies very fluctuates” is not an appropriate description. Spelling errors such as “providde,” “comapnies,” and “approximetly” are also frequent. Aim for accurate, conventional table language rather than unusual phrases: describe figures as “stood at,” “accounted for,” or “was the highest/lowest,” and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, and the response has recognisable sentence boundaries. However, grammatical errors are frequent and sometimes obscure relationships between the data. Examples include “people age under the 35 or above ages people first number,” which lacks a clear grammatical structure, and “second and third companies very fluctuates,” which has problems with the verb and sentence construction. Articles, plurals and prepositions are also often missing or inaccurate, as in “in 1 company” and “in fifth 190 staff numbers.” Build clear subject–verb sentences, such as “The first-ranked company employed 56 people,” and check agreement, articles and punctuation. More accurate simple sentences would make the comparisons easier to follow.
