Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify several relevant comparisons, including the fifth company’s largest workforce and the first company’s smallest, and report figures for the first three companies. However, the overview is incomplete and partly inaccurate: the first company did not have the most high-income staff; the third did, at 74%, compared with 34% for the first. The response also stops just as it begins discussing the fourth and fifth companies, leaving their key figures and comparisons unreported. Some details are unclear, such as “high income staff … very minimum,” and the age figures are not consistently explained. To improve, give a concise overview of the main contrasts, then cover all five companies accurately, selecting the most significant data.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response has an identifiable opening, an overview, and a sequence of paragraphs, and it attempts to group the first company separately from the second and third. However, progression is difficult to follow because the final paragraph is unfinished and the discussion does not reach a clear conclusion. Linking is often mechanical or unclear: “To begin with,” “NOW,” and “now” mark transitions, but relationships between details are not consistently expressed. The long sentence about the first company combines workforce, gender, age, turnover, and income information without clear boundaries. Use complete paragraphs organised by meaningful comparisons, and connect each figure explicitly to the company it describes.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some task-relevant terms, including “staff turnover,” “male:female ratio,” and “high income bracket,” so the reader can recognise the subject of many comparisons. However, vocabulary is basic and repetitive, and several word choices or collocations make the meaning awkward: “for working purpose,” “high income staff … very minimum,” and “staff leaving rate.” Spelling errors such as “servey,” “tird,” “exprienced,” and “secound” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise, natural expressions such as “best places to work,” “the proportion of employees in the high-income bracket,” and “staff turnover rate.” Check spelling carefully and avoid repeating “staff” and “company” when clearer alternatives are available.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
There are attempts to combine information using clauses and contrast, for example, “however, it had staff with the age less then 35,” but sentence structures are often incomplete or difficult to control. Errors in agreement and verb forms appear in phrases such as “the third company have” and “it ir rated,” while missing or incorrect articles and sentence boundaries occur throughout. The final sentence, “now the 4th nd fifth they ha ve large number of staff but they have la,” is unfinished and prevents the comparison from being understood. Punctuation and capitalisation are also inconsistent, including “but” after a full stop and “NOW” mid-response. Practise writing shorter, complete sentences first, then combine related comparisons accurately.
